Hi all ... I'm new here and I really think it's time to post something :)
So ... not much of a table top player with too much work and all but I really love dioramas, always loved them and it's my way of soothing the nerves :)
This is my first diorama ... I made it as a present for my friend who loves the book and movie, so what do you think ?

I recommend the book and the movie, both are really good ... not "your average post apocalyptic" story where all are super duper macho guys with all the firepower in the world, able to kick everyones ass
For the grass I used couple of things ... sifted colored sawdust, combed string, colored hemp and three sorts of dried tea (used of course) chamomile, mint and earl grey (for the dirt)
I'm very proud of the rust ... glue in combination with fine sand and colored afterwards gives you really really realistic rust

I think that over all, it is good, with a good tone a narrative that looks right for the subject matter. I am not very convinced by the grass, however, and for a diorama I would think you would be better going for a readily available model grass, as these are very realistic.
Also, I think a bit more shadow on the characters faces would have looked right. I sue a Games Worksop wash called Fleshtones, that adds a subtle shadow to flesh, but lots of other people use other techniques.
You are right to be pleased with the rust, its very nice. I also like your denim cloth too, as it looks convincing.
One more thing. If you are intending to use the models purely as a diorama, then you should disguise the bases. I would probably have clipped them off, the drilled a whole into one of the models feet, then glued a piece of wire in to pin the model to the road.
I don't want you to think I am being overly critical. its is a good piece. I only offer my comment in a constructive way.

When I was building the road for the diorama, out of plaster, the plan was to insert figurines in their future places so that the bases would be disguised, but as any other men I like to drink when I'm working with something, anything, so I forgot to insert figurines :D .... when the plaster dried I looked at the road holding my beer and realised that the bases will be visible, so I made a mental note not to do that again :D and drank my beer :D
You see I live in Croatia and some of the paints, washes, scenic material and other stuff is really hard to get so everything you see is hand made ... I use ravell enamel paints thinned with industrial thinner, I tried to paint miniatures with valleyo acrylic paints and it was so beautiful and so easy comparing it to the work with enamel paints but as I said it is really hard to get the paints here and ordering it from someplace over the globe is an option and with our postal office and services ... I don't think so ... they already lost somewhere two gamezone mounted vampires that I would use for my "riders of the apocalypse" diorama

Very nice...my only comment would be if it's for "The Road" it needs to be much more bleaker and depressing
