I had a chance to play some Strange Aeons with Uncle Mike and Darth James and actually took some photos, so I thought i would share. Mike plans to use this scenario to demos (I think he played this at Trumpeter Salute) and so James and I played a game to try it out.
James had a 15 BP starter list and I had a list of cultists and a fishman. The threshold members were coming to destroy the island...but I had other plans...

(http://i1121.photobucket.com/albums/l506/BasementDweller13/SA%20-%20Island%20Fun/IMG_00000029.jpg) (http://s1121.photobucket.com/user/BasementDweller13/media/SA%20-%20Island%20Fun/IMG_00000029.jpg.html)
The threshold approached the island in 2 canoes. I sent my fishman to the front of island to intercept one of them. The rest of the cultists started to chip fragments off an ancient and terrifying stone. One of the cultist collected the rock fragments and tossed them into the water...but for what purpose?

(http://i1121.photobucket.com/albums/l506/BasementDweller13/SA%20-%20Island%20Fun/IMG_00000034.jpg) (http://s1121.photobucket.com/user/BasementDweller13/media/SA%20-%20Island%20Fun/IMG_00000034.jpg.html)
The fishman destroyed the canoe on the right and sent the two agents into the water. The other canoe docked on the island as my cultists continued to veraciously chip stone fragments from the great stone...
Cultists started to die as the threshold agents stormed the island. They didn't see that something was swimming towards them...
(http://i1121.photobucket.com/albums/l506/BasementDweller13/SA%20-%20Island%20Fun/IMG_00000033.jpg) (http://s1121.photobucket.com/user/BasementDweller13/media/SA%20-%20Island%20Fun/IMG_00000033.jpg.html)
(http://i1121.photobucket.com/albums/l506/BasementDweller13/SA%20-%20Island%20Fun/IMG_00000036.jpg) (http://s1121.photobucket.com/user/BasementDweller13/media/SA%20-%20Island%20Fun/IMG_00000036.jpg.html)
The agents deployed explosives on the docks as they continued to trade fire with the cultists. The agents in the water had escaped and made their way to the island as well...Just as the Deep One emerged from the water sending the agents running for their lives...
(http://i1121.photobucket.com/albums/l506/BasementDweller13/SA%20-%20Island%20Fun/IMG_00000041.jpg) (http://s1121.photobucket.com/user/BasementDweller13/media/SA%20-%20Island%20Fun/IMG_00000041.jpg.html)
The agents struggled to get away with one perishing on the bridge. James's boss was unable to delpoy the last charge on the final dock as the Deep One descended upon him. Agent Smith was able to jump into the water and avenge the death of his boss with a well placed toss of dynamite that sent the Deep One back to Hell or where ever he rose from.
(http://i1121.photobucket.com/albums/l506/BasementDweller13/SA%20-%20Island%20Fun/IMG_00000045.jpg) (http://s1121.photobucket.com/user/BasementDweller13/media/SA%20-%20Island%20Fun/IMG_00000045.jpg.html)
With the Deep One gone, Agent Smith turned to see another one approaching. He tried to focus on his task at hand. If only he could lay the final charges he could blow up the island and all the evil that was rooted here. However, before he could reach the dock, the cult leader pulled out his pistol and shot Agent Smith dead as he turned to run from the Deep One. The threshold were unsuccessful this day.
This was a great game. It came down to the wire with a lowly cult leader and his trusty .22 pistol wining the day in the end. The game ebbed and flowed with the out come in balance the whole time. I was so excited to use the deep one and then watched James blow him to bits...only for the final threshold model to die to a .22 pistol.
Now I have to get painting a deep one of my own...

Stonking gameboard.
-
Phenomenal board, looks like it was a great game.
-
Yes, a very impressive and atmospheric table.
-
Uncle Mike did indeed have this out at Trumpeter Salute last month, and I utterly failed to get any photos of it at all, despite dropping by his booth several times to chat and drool over the fantastic (but budget-breaking...) Godling...

Stonking gameboard.

This sums it up nicely.
Cracking work, very atmospheric!
:-*
Love that Deep One too, big fella aint he?
:o
-
Lovely, I find it quite inspirational :).
-
Looks fantastic. Good write up as well.
-
The big deep one is fantastic...as is the table. If its for a demo game then perhaps it's worth making extra alternate threshold agents for when they are in the water... Cut them in half and have them half submerged 8)
-
very cool !!
where are the Deep ones from ?
-
Very cool!
I love that board!
:-*

Oh, need to start calling fishmen fishmen now...I kept referring to them as deep ones lol
Really stunning table. I like the idea of small islands and the canoe!
Deep one is new miniature from Uncle Mike Worldwide, was shown few weeks ago :)

A fun scenario and a great table to play on as well. As mentioned, the Deep One is a recent release from Uncle Mike and we had both the new model and this table on display at Trumpeter this year.
Next time, I'll have to keep my eye on those seemingly insignificant .22-wielding cultists. ::)

Glad that you liked the Godling :D He's one of my favourites although this new Deep One is right up there too.

Hey Grimm,
The Deep Ones are upcoming Strange Aeons figures. If you join The Cult Of The Black Goat (and everyone should!) you receive (among other things...) the submerged version and are then eligible to purchase the pre-release of the (non-submerged) actual Deep One.
Get in there Grimm! You could have them done in time for the next LPL... ;)
-
I love the idea of half submerged agents...that may have to happen. There are rules for them drowning so its stressful if they fall in the water...
You definitely get spoiled gaming on amazing scenery...its tough to go back home to my green felt and book buildings...
-
very cool !!

Grimm, didn't you do a Devils Reef gameboard to?
-
That is an HIGHLY IMAGINATIVE, INSPIRING setting. Your islets have some SPLENDID features I am going to try with my own isles. GREAT WORK!
-
Dweller, where were you playing? It seems I'm the only player who shows up at Trilogy on Thursdays the past few months. It'd be nice to have another Strange Aeons player for some regular games.
-
Absolutely an awesome table and a fun wee scenario to boot!
We managed to avoid the Deep Ones altogether, so a Threshold victory for us here in Vancouver, but one must remain ever Vigilant!
Cultist #64 signing off...

Hey Obsidian3d,
We were playing in Mike's lair. With my daughter's soccer I won't have a free Thursday for the next 12 years...

I love that table!!
