Gods, it has been ages since I last painted 6mm, so decided to do some testers to see if I can still perform :) Also a test to see if the basing style and tab fit me.
First up, my all time favorite, the Flammpanzer III. Decals by I-94 and Doms Decals, insert shows true size at 30-40 cm's distance. 40x20mm base

Second, cause I like remotely operated vehicles, the Goliath (I'm not sure if it is actually in the rules but for me it was too much fun to do one anyway till I get my hands on some Borgwards). 20x20mm base. Again, insert shows true size.

Painting is going rather quick right now, for German yellow I use Vallejo Middlestone over a grey basecoat, then paint the tracks and exhaust Vallejo Flat brown and rubber Vallejo German Grey. Then wash with Vallejo Dark Grey. Let dry, then paint again with basecoat and highlight with 50-50 Middlestone and Dark Sand. Gloss varnish, let dry overnight, add decals, let dry, coat with gloss varnish again. Paint base with any dark brown, drybrush with any light sandcolour, trim the edges in black. Add nametag, glue down with woodglue with a tin coat over it. Let dry, then matte varnish everything. Then do the flocking and tufting nd what not. Lasly, add antenna from brush and glue down (but I'm now doing this step while painting the basecoat to disguise the whole somewhat.
As soon as I start doing trucks I will experiment a bit with different greens to see which one works best for me, and then use that on my armour.

I've been thinking about doing a similar project myself, are you going to tweak the rules to work better at that scale or is it usable without any big changes? I would really like to hear more about this project :)

The only change needed is changing inches to cm´s and that is that, works fine that way.

We have done these games (actually decided to stay with KGN and expansions) in 6mm from the beginning. It works superbly. If you have the table space do not go to cms, stick with inch measurements exactly as given. You get a real impression of range and movement that looks right with the model sizes.
If space is a premium try using 66% rulers rather than going as small as cms.

I'm still a bit limited by the table size, hence the small downgrade, but I'll give it a shot with the actual ranges from the book.
Speaking of which, book arrived today, jay! Plus the rulesbook, double jay! And my Adler infantry order. More jay!

Look forward to seeing you next batch of pictures, not keen on Adler figures personally (being an unrepentant H&R fanatic for the last 35+ years) but all exposure for 6mm gaming is good.
IMHO it is far and away the best scale for gaming armoured battles. ;)

Don't worry, I will throw in quite a few H&R figures (tank commanders, AT rifles, snipers etc) in there as Adler doens't cover everything.
Gosh, this is a pretty book, I have a hard time deciding which Battlegroup I will do first for Normandy.....edging towards the Ersatz Panzer list atm as I have some 21st Panzer Armstrong Models I'd like to use for that.

How do you deal with casualty removal when playing in 6mm?

Great stuff! Like the converted UE a lot! I've only ever converted one thing in 6mm, it was a bridge layer for Golan Heights '73. And then I found out I need two ... >:(

I intend to base my troops on 3 and 2 man bases. Casualties will be noted with a small die, and when enough are taken, the stand is removed

Any wich way you like really. If you have them based for a different system, say 5 to a base for BKC or something, just mark casualties with a die, or make a few smaller bases with spare figures. Size of the bases is upo to you as well. I will be using 20mm square bases with 2 or 3 troops on them, just cause I like to standardise to make better use of my storage systems, but Piers bases his infantry in 2's and threes on 1 eurocent coins, with certain teams on 2 cent coins (the same size overall as a 20mm base). Since I want labels on my bases 20mm square works best for me....I need them cause my short term memory shorcircuits a bit when I'm thinking alot, and these help me remember a) what they are and b) what unit they belong too.....but I know they are not everyones favorite. Table size again what you like or have on hand. Mine isn't bigger then 100cm x 100cm atm, so that will have to do. I have a 180x160 board in multiple sections, but I don't think the wife will be quite pleased if I commandeer the dinner table for a game and then finds out the route to our kitchen is effectively blocked. Hence me going from inches to cm's, to make better use of the room I do have.
@Grant, thats a rather lovely conversion you made there. 6mm conversions are a lot quicker and easier then the ones I usually do in 20mm, thats for sure.

And again, for a real table size at 20-30 cm's. look at the insert. Added a crane, a fuel drum and what was supposed to look like an engine. It should have been upright though, not flat like it is (bad for engine)

I think your camo works well for the viewing distance. I like it.
Always a problem trying to paint and picture 1/300. It is possible to add a lot of painted detail that only serves to make the figures look cluttered and messy seen from too close.
Your style really suits the models.

See insert for view at 30 cm range. Boxes made from square bits of sprue, wheels are from a 1/288 airliner kit, model is a Heroics and Ros Blitz truck minus the tilt. 30mm round base.

StuG had some pretty heavy mouldlines, and the camo didn't work out as planned so just in plain yellow. Maybe next time.
Doms Decals wherever you can see them, UE on a 20x20mm base, the rest on a 40x20mm base, and antennas in the right places ;)

Lordy, these look so nice. Just consider how much enlargened they are in the pics, and yet so neat and skillful painting. :o I don't think my painting would stand up to such scrutiny.

All Heroics and Ross 6mm. Big bases are 40x20mm, small base is 20x20mm. B&G on the Supply truck is "Benzin und Gasoline" which I nicked off a 1939 Blitz photograph and is perfect for a resupply vehicle, albeit a fuel one.
