25 Palm tree's.......Think ive over done it!

Hi jems. Top work there.

Actually I think 25 trees is probably not enough  ;D I used 100 ( I think.. Could have been 70actually) premade palm trees for a lustria table..they are a lot smaller than yours but the table could definitely use more.  :D

Can we have a pic of them all?

What did you use for the fronds?  It looks like fur or feathers.

You can never have enough foliage.  I made what I thought was alot of trees and ground cover and it barely covered a third of my table.

Hi. Id like to start by saying this was copied from an article by the great scratch builder himself Herb Gundt.
Things needed:- Teddy bear fur,garden twine, flower making wire strands,hot glue gun,wood glue and a wire former for the leaves.

Take two wires and twist together. Once done take five of these then do the same. Allow for thickness and height you require (branches to stick leaves and roots to secure base).

Using the hot glue gun, wind the twine around the trunk, bottom to top. Glue the trunk to the base and open up the branches. You can at this point trim branches and roots as you require with pliers.Ive also at this stage used a watered down wood glue mix to coat the trunk.

Next I make the leaves. I use a piece of wire in plastic sleeve to draw around.can be formed for fatter or thinner leaves. Make sure the layof fur goes from the crown of the tree to the tip.

Using the hot glue gun add the leaves to the branches.

Only thing left to do is with a watered down wood glue mix.....with a small tooth brush.....form the leaves downwards. Allow a good drying period then paint and drybrush.

Sorry to here that Mr. Gundt has turned so Gaunt.  He does do very, very nice work.
