Right now I'm sitting at the red sea in Egypt and feel like starting to paint some minis fitting this flavor after I get home to cold Germany! So I thought I better order some minis right now!
For those of you who already have the book, what minis do I need to field a cool French Foreign Legion band?
Thanks for your help,
Thomas

Don't have the book in front of me but the FFL faction are fairly straightforward military. So a couple of officer types, maybe a medid and a lot of legionairres with rifles.
who makes good 28mm Legionairres?

Artizan

The Foreign Legion also get to take allied Bedouin warriors armed with swords and rifles, either as foot or cavalry (horse).
Don't forget the NCOs - where would the Foreign legion be if not for their grizzled sergeants? As well as the officer special character and generic captains, there's also an NCO special character and generic sergeants.
The FFL also has some other special characters, a wacky professor who injects troops with various 'serums' (combat drugs), and his daughter Amelie who is also a medic.
Heavy weapon teams are also an option, two men can be a machine gun (Maxim maybe?) team or an 'Arc cannon' team. And all legionnaires can take 'Breath Preservers' (gasmasks).

Thank you very much, I'll be ordering some of those Artizan FFL tonight after dinner! :D

Red Orc has been pretty thorough there, but there is one other option:
They can take a light walker as well, if you fancy being adventurous.

Those are the WW2 foreign legion though, not the late 19th, early 20th century Beau Geste style ones.
-
no, they are not "Beau Geste" style, but apart from those with dress shorts very much interwar
I had a more gritty image in mind than the romanticized version
-
Fair enough, I'm clearly a romantic :P

I did notice Gringo 40's have some very nice 19th century french foreign legions in 28mm

Kev Dallimore got all excited about this Adventuring Company as well, and emailed over his suggestion of what figures to use:
8.4.8 The Légion Étrangère – 4me Battalion, Les Zouaves de Kreiss
MOD001 - Legion Command I - Col Kreiss, Sgt Major Baptiste, Captain, Sergeant
MOD003 - Legion in Greatcoats Advancing I – Legionnaire
PLP040 - Lily – Amelie
PLP130 - Doctor Salmander - Prof. Moebius
ARB007 - Arab Irregular Cavalry II - Bedouin Tribesmen
The figures are all Artizan from March or Die, Thrilling Tales and WW1 Arabs.

I should have hugged you at Salute Nick :D
Thanks for passing on that excellent list from Kev. Allons y mon braves!

Thanks again for your input, guys, much appreciated!!!
Now, I'd love to have a dusty, steaming walker for my company, any thoughts one size and weapons?
Cheers, Thomas

I can't find a suitable "Walker" at all at the moment.

For the FFL I will be using something fairly small, as they have what is designated a 'light' walker.
I am thinking of something like this, converted to hold a 'driver' and with the correct weaponry, of course:

You could always just get started and do the infantry figures first, mate.
That way you can get playing straight away.
You can always go back and add the walker when you have found something suitable.
