Title: How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria?
Post by: Plynkes on 24 April 2008, 09:35:37 PM
Looking for a figure to represent the nanny or governess of a bunch of Austrian children. Not too sexified, but not an old boiler either. Bavarian/Tyrolian-style clothing a definite boon. Certainly not carrying a big gun or sword.

Any ideas? I've been looking around for fantasy civilians, but am a little out of my area here, so any suggestions would be most welcome.

Artizan have a few females which may suit.

Funnily enough I was just over there looking at those. Some lovely figures there (just put in an order actually), but nothing that really grabbed me for this particular need.

Thanks for the suggestion though.

Oh yes, she was my favourite. That show was never the same once they replaced her with that blond hobbit.

Perfect! Comes with two free kiddies as well!. Thanks, Prof.

(I feel bad about comparing you with Borat now.  )

Edit: Do they have a European distributor? That website is a nightmare. I haven't the first clue where to look for those figures, and their "Figure Finder" is no bloody use.

Minifigs cast Reaper here in the UK, but they are about a year behind the States. I tried to get some recent Reaper releases off them at Salute, but they are only up to about no. 3,000 in the catalogue - several hundred figures behind Reaper's US catalogue.

If you go to the Reaper website and can search this figure out, get the code number, then check out the Reaper listings at Minifigs, you might be in luck. http://www.miniaturefigurines.co.uk/Catalogue.aspx?ScaleID=4&CategoryID=21

Importing Reaper from the US is a no-no, unless you've got a bottomless wallet for postage. Shipping was about three times the cost of the order when I tried online a few months ago.  :(

Thanks.

Phew! Who'd've thought there were so many fantasy figures out there? I guess someone must be interested in all that stuff.

Still looking, but I did find the what I think should be the official Pete Murray figure while I was browsing:

Damn, I just realised I already have some of those Reaper Townsfolk, the strumpets. You used to be able to buy them from Antenociti's Workshop, but they seem to have gone from that site. Should've bought them when I had the chance.

Thanks for the help, guys.

Looks like he's broke out in some quite nasty boils down there. I guess that is all in character.

You have a truly astounding capability to get under people's skin, Dyl.  :)

Sorry mate. Wouldn't knowingly set out to get on your nerves. Just trying to make you chuckle. What can I say? I saw that model and I thought of you. :)

Minifigs have a minimum order rule, which meant I had to buy something else to put it over a tenner. So amongst other things I bought that 'cavalier in a codpiece', just for the fun of it. No idea what I'll do with him.

True, but Pete Murray might think the codpiece is too small for him.
