Title: Jim and Chris' WWI adventure
Post by: OSHIROmodels on 26 May 2013, 01:00:54 PM
Teeny tiny side project me and my mate Chris are doing. I'll be doing Germans and he'll be doing Brits (I think, I'm sure he'll be along to show what he's doing  ;) ).

Rules will be Through the mud and the blood by Too Fat Lardies. We'll be playing late war but not mud strewn as it would mean a whole load of new terrain which I have no room for  :(

Main inspiration has come from Sidney Roundwoods blog which is a wealth of modelling and painting loveliness for the period  8)

I still might do some trench boards but we'll see.

First off are three late war Germans from Great War miniatures, not the best cast figures but when cleaned up they paint up quite nicely. The uniform colours are possibly not quite right but I am slightly colour blind  ::) :D Colours used are Foundry Granite for the jacket and Foundry Quagmire for the helmet and trousers (normal sorts of colours for the rest).

Some test scenery in the form of a run of barbed wire. Simple basing and balsa supports. The wire itself is from a mesh type sanding paper that was cut into strips and crushed to give a slightly random appearance.

And a scale shot with the figures...

And finally the start of an artillery explosion inspired by Dave Andrews and the ones he did for his very well done WW1 battlefield. Doesn't look like much at the moment but it will do soon enough (hopefully  :) )

It's incredible - that's about 10 different genres he's doing all at the same time!

Wait a minute, let's make a list...

Mars
Boxer rebellion
Robin Hood
WWI
Samurai (well obviously)
Gladiators
Wars of the Roses
Game of Thrones
French Wars of Religion, did I see somewhere earlier?

What else? Come on, there must be more!

 lol

(Nice paintwork though James  ;))

I've got a slow burning 1:1000 Star Wars project, 15mm samurai, a very slow burning GW Empire force and terrain that I should get around to posting one day and 40K Rogue Trader that I've been collecting for recently...

Oh yeah, there's the 40mm peninsula nappies that we'll be doing soon...

 lol

cheers

Great start, sir.

With all these different projects on the go, you just wont get any time to play with all your shiny new toys!

Dont forget your fondness for ratmen too!

Hi all,

First batch of shell craters done. These are sort of a test batch, as I feel as if they are missing something... So comments are more than welcome!

Thanks

Chris

Think I will have to just so it ties in with the rest of the scenery. :) Only, when I ponder on WW1, the only image that comes to mind is wet mud and not much else. All the black and white reference images don't help!
