For those of you interested in using the new Perry Italians as CTV in Spain, here's a quick review, and comparison. ;)

Thanks for the post! :)

Cheers Nigel, very useful. I haven't succumbed to any of the Perry Italians yet - I find it slightly odd that they haven't released the sun-helmeted models first, given that they are the obvious opponents for the 8th Army (until the plastic DAK turn up.) Hicks models are still a pleasure to paint, though now at £7 for 4 from Empress, the Perry or Bolt Action ranges are going to look more attractive...

Yep, £6.50 for 6 pretty decent models, its a bit of a no brainer.
Luckily I still have a hefty lead pile from the Anglian days to work thru :D

Nigel,
An extremely useful post as I have been wondering exactly how the Perry's would go with the Empress minis.
Looking forwward to seeing them painted.
To all,
What color would you paint these figures? Perhaps a Vallejo or Foundry paint color to be specific if possible. If there are any pics or links to a good site for Italians in the SCW that would be fantastic.
Thinking on uses for the Italians in the early stages of WW2 as well as the SCW - Greece and North Africa, would the Empress minis work for those eras?
Regards
Happy Wanderer

I'm using my Empress Italians for East Africa 1941, and they seem to tally just fine with all the pics I've seen. My Eritrean Askaris may be a bit grand for 1941 though - most of the photos I've seen seem to feature side caps rather than the lovely tarbooshes as sported in 1935/6. I may just stick with them though, as Askaris are much rarer than white Italian troops...
