Just came out of the cinema after seeing IM. I have to say - I liked it a lot.
Many good superhero gaming ideas in it. (Have to paint up some Afghans soon...)
Tony is also just the way I liked him in the comics (especially the Ultimate version); cynic, drunk and just a boy in a mans body.
And the big endbattle between IM and Ironmonger was just fun.
Hope you like it too.

I'm going Saturday so NO SPOILERS! :D
-
I'm going to see it on Saturday too. I've got a £10 bet with my wife that the Black Sabbath song features somewhere within the film. It HAS too!
All together now!
"Has he lost his mind?
Can he see or is he blind?"
etc...

Its been in all of the ads over here, so I think the bet is a good one. :)

Please tell me he didn't hook up with Pepper!
I've been collecting IM for over 30 years and can't wait to see OS and TS kick the Hell outta eachother. They gotta do the Manderain next.
Heard that the new Hulk might have a IM cameo but not sure. That would be awesome if we saw some Hulk Buster armor in that movie.

I just got back from it, I don't do superheros as a rule but this one rocked! Looking forward to the sequal.

I looked at the Hulk film details on IMDB last night. Downey Jr. is listed as playing Tony Stark so I'm not sure if he'll feature in the armour or not...

I saw the trailer for this, and one thing made me laugh out loud. Nothing really to do with the film itself, but those silly disclaimers they feel the need to print at the bottom of the screen.
On the UK advert it says something like: "Contains moderate violence and one use of moderate language."
What the hell is that supposed to mean? Moderate language? Why do we need a warning about moderate language? If there is only one use of moderate language in the entire film then has Tony Stark got Tourette's for the rest of the picture?
I'm sorry, it's just got too silly. The marketing people have twisted themselves up in such knots trying to make warnings that don't put people off that they've entirely ceased to make any sense. A damn certificate from the BBFC was good enough in my day, never mind all this "Contains..." nonsense. Sorry for the mini-hijack, I just thought that was so funny. Moderate language, indeed. :)
-
As far as the ad goes, the music in ads is often is unrelated to the score of the film. Often ad makers will use anything they think will get people into the pictures. You can't really judge whether the song is in the movie based on the ads.
-
Now, now lets not get started on all that 'Contains' malarky
And besides I love the little chart on the back of the DVD box. Best one so far has been "Nudity - Once, very brief" it was hard to contain my disappointment
-
If you are going to see it stay in until the credits finish, you'll be glad you did.
Loved the film.
-
Ok someone PM and tell me what happens after the credits.
PLEASE!

I listened the rumour, and I stayed until the end (my wife is really patient with these things  )... OMG! The "A" rumour in the Internet seems to be true!!! :D :D :D

Saw it yesterday and it was awesome. I've been collecting IM for over 30 years and they pulled it off perfectly.
Can't wait for the sequel.

Hey all,
Saw it earlier this evening and left the cinema grinning from ear to ear. Great geek movie done just right. My wife also enjoyed it - a non geek through and through - so that is a sign of it's true greatness.
For those who left the cinema before the end bit, I'll post up what happened below - scroll down the page to find out whhat you missed. It's kind of spolierish so don't read it if you ain't seen it yet. For those who have seen it, yes I left some of the filler out - I'm just trying to highlight the geekgasm moments.
After the credits, Tony walks into his house to find a mysterious man standing at the lounge window.
Tony: Who are you?
Man turns around, black with an eye patch and wearing a leather jacket. IT"S SAMUEL FRIGGIN JACKSON!
Black man: I'm Nick Fury, head of Shield. Have you heard of the Avengers initiative?
-
Oh my! My cinema did not show the "A" scene...
:( :( :(

And did anyone else pick up on the Ring-Wearing Baddie Bent Upon Asian Domination? A little villain foreshadowing for the sequel?

That was indeed a Mandarin hint, or?

The after the credits shot (only as an URL as spoiler control):

YES! :o

Well, his organization was called The Ten Rings . . .
-
AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That was a fantastic film

Maybe in a couple years we will hear this famous proclamation.
"AVENGERS ASSEMBLE!"
Brian
-
Excellent movie!
And according to my brother in law, there are rumors that Stark makes a similar guest appearance at the end of The Hulk.
-
Great movie, we saw it over the weekend. I liked that they took the time to do some serious character development. RDJ was a perfect Tony Stark and I thought Jeff Bridges did a fine job also. I also rather like that the re-release of Hulk featuring Edward Norton as Dr Banner.
Hulk re-release 2008, and rumors are Thor 2009, Cap 2009 and the Avengers 2010.
I suppose I’ll need to get my IM ‘clicky’ out of the box to check for compatibility. Where did I put them?
-
Its great that Marvel has the rights to all the Avengers characters so they can pull this off. It was fortuitous for them that the first Hulk movie was so badly received so the studio that owned it wouldn't renew.
Now, who to cast as Captain American and Thor...

I always thought this dude would make a good Cap.
Paul Walker

Kevin McKidd of Dogsoldiers fame is rumored to be Thor.
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0571727/
-
Hmm, from reading the Ultimates comics I always saw Brad Pitt as the model for the "ultimate" Thor. If he can gets in shape like in Troja, who nows...
-
McKidd can certainly brood with the best of them though. I loved him in Rome.

He looks spot on for Captain America.
Also McKidd as Thor would be great. :)

To small. BTW, will Eric Bana stay the Hulk? I hated the movie, but Bana has been a good choice.
-
Edward Norton is already signed up for the Hulk movie.
Vladimir Kulich from the 13th Warrior film should be Thor...

He would make a good Thor, but that movie was quite a few years ago. How does he look now?

Really? He's one of my favourite actors, vastly under-rated IMO.

About the same as Harrison Ford does, I guess

Just got back from watching this film today, it was great.
I feel a repaint of a HeroClix model coming on soon ;)
-
Seen it today, it's a nice one, though I think Obadaya had more potential. As Marvel supervillains, Magneto and Doc Oc are still the best on screen.
