I painted some Normans for games of SAGA. Instead of always painting them like Christians I chose to do them as Satanists instead. I don't get why it should always be boring do-good Christians. There might as well have been a few Satanists back then.

Astoundingly brilliant! :o
-
Stunning work ;D
- and may I ask what the bases are? Could use some like that for my Byzantine's
-
Nice work! Interesting idea!
-
Fantanistic painting and a nice idea.
-
Coolio, but they don't like the Welsh - but then who does?
-
Astoundingly brilliant! :o
Hahahaha lol

GREAT IDEA! Somehow Satanic Normans seems SO right...probably too many Robin Hood Flicks as a boy. Teutonic Knights as PaleoNazis seem appropriate also.
The minis no matter what their religious outlook are WONDERFULLY WELL DONE! The brushwork, basing, & all that lovely work on the shields are FANTASTIC.
-
More nice stuff and almost more proper toy soldiers :) The bases stood out for me too, they work a treat
-
Eh! A brilliant idea! They look splendid and... different than usual!
the minis are from Conquest, right?
-
Excellent O crazy one.
Love those bases.
You clever Viking :)
-
Unusual idea. Interesting.
Although a lot of people have been accused of Satanism, especially when things heated up ideologically prior to the Romanesque period, this makes me wonder when a group of like-minded people first decided, consciously, to be followers of Satan.
I like that they're relatively normal looking. No need for piercings and corpse bits all over the place.
-
Hahahaha lol
You're welcome! lol
Coolio, but they don't like the Welsh - but then who does?
No, I must have chosen the wrong patron deity. ;D
It seems that - after a bit of googling - that the Normans are indeed worthless in SAGA unless you stock up on bow.
Stunning work ;D

Tanks! The bases are simply washers held together with masking tape.

You say that so often. lol

Yes, they're Conquest. Cheap as chips but not very interesting. Seeing what can be done with plastic leaves me a bit cold on these.

Probably not until the early 1900s.. AC/DC seems to be awfully in touch.

The only thing I would say, is that potentially the chainmail is a bit too shiny...

Well they do say, the Devil finds work for idle hands...

"do-good Christians" HA, ;) Medieval Christians were not all do gooders... at least, not the warring leaders anyway. Christianity was really mostly used as a justification for terrible wars or persecution, take a look at the situation in England after William took over for example! :) But the satanist take is a great metaphor for the reality though ;) Good stuff.

I managed to finish some more... didn't spend as much time on them as the first batch though. REally fast painting with dipping sauce and drybrushing and everything. lol

I don't know if it is just the delightful shields on these drawing the eye but this dipping/quick job stuff you are doing of late seems to be consistently good. Is Danish dip better than the rest of the worlds or are you doing some crazy Viking ritual or something?

For the sake of your heart and well-being I will take some close ups to really show the gory details and exact quality of these paint jobs. lol lol
Meanwhile you can have a look at the bigger picture here: https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-ykzcEv27Yp8/UiN6RwBHCTI/AAAAAAAAIRo/OKNAhzRR8rU/s1600/P1250389.JPG
I think several thing's are at work here:
The skins painted proper - detracts attention from shoddy painted clothes. 'Faces and bases' as I always say.
Three 100W lamps are blazing on them smoothing it all a bit.
Thirdly, yes, the shields are hugely successful in drawing the eyes as well.

You're getting too good at this painting lark TN :)
Lovely.

Lovely.
I can't bring myself to spend hours on each miniature with the quality of these particular plastics I'm afraid. 8)
On the other hand - if the sculpting warrants it I can't bring myself to speed up... lol
-
CUTE. really. Great job Dr.
-
Cool. I'll put a stop watch on the archers lol
-
Devilishly good :-*

Some very modest and valiant dice rolling on yomur part helped though. lol

However, we've since squared away just how nasty mounted Welshmen can be :o
