I'VE recently begun a 15mm fantasy project using Bombshell Games' most excellent Mayhem (http://bombshell-games.com/mayhem/) rules. Over the past fortnight I've got a fair bit painted up and hope to be able to share it over the coming weeks. In the meantime I have a question regarding old Asgard (now Viking Forge) Orcs. The notion of using vintage 25mm fantasy monsters as behemoths (Trolls, Ogres etcetera) in 15mm is an appealing one and as I love some of the old Asgard Orcs (http://www.thevikingforge.net/25mm-fantasy-orcs.html), which look very trollish in my opinion, I was wondering if anybody had or could take a comparison picture of one of these venerable minis alongside a 28mm (or even 15mm) model. They look rather chunky and I just want to make sure they'll fit in. Cheers.

I've answered (http://belchedfromthedepths.blogspot.co.uk/2012/02/asgardviking-forge-orcs.html) my own question! Cheers.

Hi Funghy
Good to hear that someone is on a 15mm fantasy project as well :), was thinking of using 25mm fantasy as trolls ect like your self what are mayhem rules like ?
we game a lot in Felds Of Glory at my club .With a bit of luck/work i think they will work well as a fantasy set as well ..So have built-up a orc army and working on the rest . :)
I do like the look of some of them black orcs from viking forge as my trolls ..
well good luck with your project

As you say, you have answered your question, but there is a HUGE size variance in the range itself.
On the whole they are fairly small, with the Great Orcs being slightly larger but still tiny compared to modern ranges.
If you want any other comparison pics give me a shout, stating which range you want to compare them with.
I no longer have any 15mm figures, though...

As I wrote I should be able to get some of my 15mm stuff photographed this week and will post pictures here. 'Mayhem' is a great set of rules which I cannot recommend highly enough. Bear-in-mind that additional rules for magic and sieges are to be added soon. I have to say I am fairly smitten by 15mm and the possibilities it presents: I'm even planning to do skirmish games in this scale. Good luck with your own endeavours!

Cheers Mason! Actually if it's no trouble a picture next to a GW Goblin would be very handy. I'm primarily interested in codes 34-39 in THIS (http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7207/6878942859_4407034aac_z.jpg) picture. Thanks again!

I will see what I can do.
Not sure if I have any GW Goblins, but I guess something else GW should do the trick.
I will try and sort it out by tomorrow evening.
Give me a nudge if I forget.

Sorry for the wait, but here they are.
No goblins, so I used a Dwarf and an old skool Halfling to show just how small they are;

Tiny little buggers, aint they?
Should work just fine as Trolls or Ogres in 15mm though.
:D

Hey, Marauder Troll Slayers are amongst the most universal fantasy figures out there: I now have a very good idea of the size of the Agard Orcs. Bloody small, as you rightly point out, but ever-so suitable for representing Trolls in 15mm. Result! Sir, I cannot thank you enough for your help in this matter.

An order will be placed in a week-or-two for some of your excellent Orcs. The dragon looks superb, too!
