Hello LAF!
I'm looking at a small-scale skirmish plan for the Easter Rising and War of Independence, which would mean I need:
IRA - Musketeer Miniatures (anyone else? For the War of Independence, I assume uniformed IRA can be represented by regular British soldiers?
Black & Tans - Musketeer
RIC - Musketeer
British Regulars - Great War Miniatures
How do Great War and Musketeer Scale together overall? Any further insight here would help greatly...I'm looking at a section or two, maybe an armoured car...
-
there a comparison shot here which may be useful

Hmm..it looks like they match up no problem, but it's hard to tell with them not actually side by side...what's your opinion, since you have both in your collection?
-
I have them all and I would say they match well. For the Easter Uprising 1916 I also use Perry Mafeking, Foundry and OG Boers for Irish volunteers

a quick side by side great war ------------- musketeer

there almost identical in pretty much all aspect. simple as that

That's great guys, thanks for all your help! Are there any other brands I didn't think of?
-
Forgot to ask -
Musketeer does the Lancia Armoured lorry, Company B does the Rolls Roys 1916 model, I think the Copplestone one is a little late....
Any other vehicle suggestions?

I have not been able to do much hobby related fun since being here in Korea, :( but my blog has some resource listings that will serve you. http://www.thekingsdepart.blogspot.com/ (http://www.thekingsdepart.blogspot.com/)
Click on the top tab "IWI" and you are there.

Look on e-bay for matchbox models of yesteryear for Crossley Tenders to transport RIC and the Auxies.
I will echo the sentiments that GWM and Musketeer go well together.
As for uniformed Irish, you don't really "need" them unless you are doing the ICW.
There's a really good thread on TMP regarding figures. Happy to see if I can find it if you wish
-
My great grandfather was a Black and Tan, I hae photographs if ye want me tae scan ye thim an sen ye thim.
-
JP that would be incredible! Thank you! I can PM you my e-mail
Thanks for the links to references, I didn't even see that Musketeer does early War Tommies, so there's no problem using all one line of figures...
As for the Crossley Tender - are you referring to the RAF version I'm seeing all over Ebay right now?
-
Indeed, send me your email and I shall send you what I have. Its probably stuff you could garner from a lengthy search online but as I have a heap of stuff you may as well benifit from it!
Also some colour stuff of the RUC if thats of use.
-
JP- could I be cheeky and ask if it's an open offer as I'd be interested in seeing them too?
Cheers,
Pete.

I'm looking further into some armoured cars, and ran into a few more questions -
1st Corps Rolls Royce - is it the correct model for use in Ireland -->

Who makes an Austin Peerless in 1/56 (and how common would they have been?)?

I think those will work. there's a pictuer of nice paint job here:http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=47662.0
I have one that started life as a truck for a beer company.
-
And have you tried fitting the Empress SCW driver figures into it?

Just to let you know that here at Scheltrum we do a peerless twin turretted armoured car.
Not sure if it's up on the website yet as that is currently under updating by my kind friend Dave at Iron Mammoth.
If you want further information, please contact me drrectly.
