Title: Super System: Ultimate Alliance
Post by: Hat Guy on 23 June 2013, 06:13:56 AM
Hey there, I decided that I'd make a separate thread for the AARs and developments for my Campaign to avoid too much confusion.

Super System: Ultimate Alliance

Issue #1: Stolen Property

It all started out as just another day in Hero City:

Part 2 of Issue #1, the debrief.

After the fuss had died down, the heroes spoke to Colonel Fury:

"I'm going to level with you fellas, that truck was carrying a top-secret artifact to STAR Labs for analysis. We don't know what the heck it was, but it was unearthed in Egypt and it seemed to be a weird combination of Kryptonian, Shi-Ar, Kree, Galifreian, Martian, Rand, N-Zone and a bunch'a other techs we can't even begin to guess at. If the black hats have it we have to get it back, so I'm making you guys a team with the full backin' of SHIELD. We'll point you at the problem and you take care of it. If you can get any other help, go for it.

Our intelligence points to AIM, the Advanced Idea Mechanics, as being the best bet for Merc' types like Creed and Lawton to try and either fence or understand the mystery device. As soon as we get a bead on what rock AIM is hiding under these days, you're goin' in."

Thankfully, Batman seemed to be no worse for his ordeal and was keen to get on with his investigation. He decided to allow his teammates to communicate with Oracle for the duration of the mission.

Ben Grimm figured what with that Batman fella and the backin' of SHIELD, maybe he didn't need to bring that ol' brain-box Reed in on this just yet. So he called up that web-head Spiderman, the kid could use a break after all.

Captain America needed someone he could trust and had gone up against AIM in the past. The only real choice was Sam Wilson; he's a good man and reliable in a tight spot.

The Ghost Who Walks doesn't need help with many things, but Kit Walker realised that he was not the man to unravel this mystery. To this end, the call went out to fellow Defender of the Earth, Mandrake the Magician.

The new recruits:

Oracle: A player may choose to forgo a Hero's Activation to utilise the wisdom of Oracle. Oracle may do any 1 of the following in her Activation;
- Flip a single Villain Card face-up, the Card remains face-up until the end of the game or until that Villain is KOed.
- Hacking. Oracle may open locked doors, lock open doors, prevent Robots from Activating for one turn or anything else conceivably comic-booky.
- Gather information, this can be used for any narrative effect, within reason.

Issue #2, Coming Soon!

when you run this at events does everyone have just one super hero to control and you handle the bad guys or do players handle both sides? curious how you manage this.

The idea is that the players control one Hero each and I control up to 4 villains at a time. If there are more than 4 people interested, I let them play the villains.

Great!

What rules did you use to play the issue#2?
Title: Re: Super System: Ultimate Alliance

The rules are a modified version of Super System 3. Once I get the modifications out of my head and onto paper, I'll post them in the project thread.

What are the clear "vats" in the Secret Lair? They look familiar, but I can't place them!

Great looking battle!

The tanks are Star Wars minis Batca Tanks, they look great in any setting, I just need to get around to rebasing and repainting them.

Finally, the Issue 2 post battle.

Turns out AIM had already shipped the device off elsewhere and MODOK was about to abscond with the Creeper as well. With the trail gone cold, our heroes have to wait until the enemy makes a move.

Creeper had so much fun fighting with the team that they now can't get rid of him. He insists that he's a member now and keeps eating all the doughnuts in the break room.

Batman seemed to be uninjured, despite another mild concussion and finally deigned to bring in some help. Not wanting the big boy scout to make accusations, he called up the new Blue Beetle. Sure, he's young, but he's proven himself time and again.

Mandrake, now fully aware of the monsters that the team are facing, elected to call in the remaining Defender; Flash! (Ah-ah) Savior of the universe!

Spiderman really doesn't like being shot at, so as much as he'll regret it later, he decided to get a teammate who's not afraid to shoot back. Frank Castle... maybe this isn't such a great idea?

There are few foes that The Thing can't handle, but Iron Monger and Parasite really did a number on Aunt Petunia's favorite nephew. Another big gun is needed, so Ben calls in a little help from a fellow Avenger. Thor.
