Title: LPL7 gallery (heavish)
Post by: Dolmot on June 24, 2013, 10:41:08 PM
Hello

As LPL season 7 (http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?board=22.0) is now officially over, people have started re-posting stuff for other audiences. This year I tried to follow somewhat consistent a theme and I think these could fit in here. Some of you are already very familiar with them but others may have missed at least something. In any case, I thought it would be handy to have them on a single page. So, my illustrated essay on "what I did this spring"...

Wonderful stuff

I love the deep ones and hybreds, who makes the second hybred?

I still can't help see a likelness between one of your deep ones and Zippy:

You'd certainly get a prize for 'most unity across entries'. I really enjoyed seeing your work, wonderful painting, characterful, and I love the titles, themes and background details like the posters on the walls. Great :)

Great entries this year Dolmot.  I really liked the themes of your entries this year and the thematic unity really comes across when we get to see all of them together like this.  Fantastic!  :) :-*

I would like to second what DJ has said.
I really looked forward to your entries each week as I loved the theme and wanted to know what was coming next.
And you certainly did not disappoint.
 :-*

Well done, sir, for a sterling and consistant effort over the ten week period of the LPL, which produces some wonderful, thoughtful results.

All your entries were really spectacular. I'd be hard pressed to decide which one is my favourite.

Thank you very much, gentlemen. I feel flattered. ::)

I didn't exactly swim in free time this spring. More like the opposite. However, I had a bunch of minis conveniently undercoated and many of them were relatively easy to bundle into groups of five. Another thing that helped a lot was my accumulated collection of suitable terrain. Oh, and painting lots of things mostly blue or green. lol It only turned tricky near round 8 when I was travelling over two consecutive weekends and ran out of anything resembling a buffer. The last round with two teams at once and nothing even built in advance was obviously the toughest but it turned out nice again.

What's both harsh and great about LPL is that the whole procedure will be completed - concept, preparing, painting, basing, photography. It's not a WIP zone but a place where stuff posted is stuff finished. All you see is ready for summer's games.

For future (or current) reference, here's a listing of all manufacturers:

1: Heresy
2: Otherworld (1,2,5 from left), Hasslefree (3,4)
3: Pulp Figures
4: Foundry, except 5th who's Partizan
5: from left: LAM, Artizan, Black Cat, Artizan, Citadel
6: Black Cat
7: back: Reaper, Frothers (now Mythos Foundry), Das Schwarze Auge (Ral Partha); front: Wyrd
8: back: Vesper-on; front: AD&D
9: sides: Fenris; front: Black Cat; middle: Lance & Laser (now Armorcast); back/above: Vesper-on
10: dwarfs and non-flat aliens: Olley's Armies; puddles: Otherworld; machine: Blue Moon

Posters: e.g. Boston Public Library (http://www.flickr.com/photos/boston_public_library/sets/72157618058787787/) - who have excellent reference material. If you're ever bored and/or looking for inspiration, check their several pages of sets (http://www.flickr.com/photos/boston_public_library/sets/) and all fancy things found therein.

Thanks again. :)
