Hi,
I’m new to the forum and VSF in general but I have recently had my first game of IHMN (with lordbert – who clamed victory thanks to his pigeon whispering skills, the cad!)
Anyway I’m in the process of creating several (probably about 15-20) new companies and would like a little help for a Talent I’m trying to create.
It’s basically a self destruct talent for use on robotic drones (Or Professor Oswald Vossens Hovering Death Billiards to give them there full name)
The drones will be moderately armoured and equipped with Arc rifles and possibly electric truncheons but I want them to have the option to explode if required
I’m thinking either of using the rules for dangerous terrain/exploding barrels or a close combat attack that affects everyone in the combat.
The big question of course is how many points it should cost, 10 or points feels about right off the top of my head but I'm not sure
Anyone have any ideas?

I've toyed with something similar:
Auto-destruct
SV bonus: +3
Range: 3" radius around model
Pluck modifier: -1
Cost: 10
Notes: One use only, model is destroyed after use.
This essentially works as a slightly larger, more random explosive grenade centred on the auto-destructing model, rather than thrown. Even so, it can affect models not in base contact, so is treated exactly as a shooting attack in all respects.

Applying the KISS principle I'd just count them as carrying a grenade (6 points) that explodes at their location. As it has no chance of missing or being a dud then add 2 points for this, making it 8 points.

I like it. There is a very real trade off; loss of the figure for the potential to do some damage.
