Title: Girls und Panzer inspired nonsense
Post by: TwoGunBob on June 29, 2013, 02:00:58 AM
As much as the hot pink tanks and giggly schoolgirls combined with tanks 'drifting' makes those WWII grognards pop a blood vessel and spike their blood pressure... I got some tanks from Frontline miniatures at a price break as they had miscast parts and the company was selling them as wrecks. Well, far be it from me to let these go to waste and as much as I thought the cartoon was goofy, I figured it's make a great convention game to piss off the World War Deux aficionados. I'm not a great tank painter, okay, not a great painter at all really but thought I'd share the current madness on the painting table.

So, the D-Rocker Hetzer is finished up with band logos no one will probably get. Had issues with the Testors primer going on too thick and order some Tamiya for the rest of the tanks. Paint job is overall kind of 'meh' but I don't think anymore tinkering on my part will improve it really. Still fun to completely ruin ye olde Worlde Ware Twoe minis by putting schoolgirls as drivers and planning decidedly anti-historical rules for tanks fighting each other.

Next up?

The Matilda with 2 pounder gun.

Good project, I ordered the decals Company B was offering and hope to get to a project like this myself :)

One of my flames-of-war playing friends has a saying: I didn't choose the StuG life. It chose me.

I'm finishing up watching the series online...it's...a little tough to get through the constant teenage girls giving each other ego-boosting speeches, but the tanks are pretty cool to watch (and true to Japanese anime style...shockingly accurate).

The idea is silly, but the show is fun, and the animation is excellent.  I'd absolutely play a silly tank game based on the idea.

Looking good. Alternative realities is something every wargamer should try - whether imagi-nations, weird science Romans or Japanese school girls (who insist on having group bathing sessions) driving WWII-era tanks.
