Hi all,
In my quest to update my wargames table, i need to aquire some more trees to replace my rubbish looking ones i have at the moment.
I preferably want pine trees as the board i'm using is set in a Scandanaivian sort of country, but a few oaks will not look too bad i guess. So, i was wondering if anyone knew of any good companies that sell decent priced trees? Armatures will do as i can paint and add leaves myself.
I'm currently searching on ebay but unfortunatly most come from china or hong cong :-[

Woodland Scenics do a bag of pine tree armature. Pretty basic but they look fine when dressed up. They are also incredibly cheap.

You might be able to use my old Birch tree Toot!

What's wrong with China or Hong Kong?
I've ordered from there many times and have had very good experiences. No hassle at all, little shipping, etc.
I was actually going to recommend a seller there.
Anyway, I like the fir tree packs from Noch (http://www.howardscenicsupplies.co.uk/search.php?search_query=noch+fir+tree+pack&x=0&y=0), and Heki makes good looking pine trees (http://www.howardscenicsupplies.co.uk/categories/Trees/Pine-Tree-Packs/).

Minibits (www.minibits.net) make some nice ones, in a variety of sizes / shapes / types.

Max, if you fancy a punt at it, making your own isn't difficult - I've just posted a how-to.

Thanks for the replies guys. I will check out the sites.
Mitch K, i will check out your how to. I could try making some myself but i want to bulk out a forest and making them all might take me ages.

I have nothing wrong with the sellers, just the fact it's a long way away. I've ordered 2 things from England recently and they haven't arrived yet (i'm in France) so i get the feeling if i order from there it will take over a month to arrive. And i'm impatient :D

You coukld try to buy cheap trees from a railroad model supply and improve them, that's what I did
recipe:
buy medium cheap trees (or tree kits) that are flocked with spongelike flockage
buy spay cans with glue and matte varnish
buy static grass (for softwoods) and litter flock (for hardwoods) slightly brighter than the flockage the tree has now
(assemble trees, if kits)
paint tree stem in realistic colour (that would usually be grey, not brown)
spray glue the extra flockage to the free
spray the whole tree with varnish (beware of frosting)
base trees
DONE!
I have no Idea what your old trees look like, but I managed to rescue mine from the trashbin with that.

Very nice, how sturdy are they? The smaller ones look a little delicate.

Reasonably so. All trees made this way will shed foliage to one extent or another. These don't seem better or worse than any other. I handle them carefully and they seem to be OK.

We use the minibits ones and they do look great and are not that fragile. As long as you don't throw them in a box or pile stuff on top of them they will be fine. (but who would do that???)

There is bound to be at LEAST one person that would...
I mean, it stands to reason, doesn't it? lol
