Came across these whilst window shopping at Hobby Link. For the price, they look like they might be worth investigating.

Some of them look like they might have potential multi-period use.

They really look great. I wish someone would import them to the Eu though. (I'm no big fan of internet shopping)
-
Oh Wow! If you pick one up, I would like to see them scaled against other figures like 28mm and the like.
-
I bought a few from Japan a few years' ago. They are still untouched!!!
-
Damn - they look ace (if the box art is anything to go by).

Some kits have assembled models as box art, you can find more if you research the Manufacturer "Kawai Shokai" with your favourite search engine (or by klicking this -> Link (http://www.hlj.com/hljlist2/?Scale=0&MacroType=All&SeriTxt1=Scenery&Maker1=KWS&Dis=-2&GenreCode=All))

Great find!

Just done the conversion and at those prices it would be rude not to.
:o

:-*
You would pay that much just for the included cherry trees here.

'Fraid not. Got to look in the box of one a couple of years ago and wasn't really impressed (I can be rather difficult to please though ;D ).
Also, they are mainly for Meiji period usage so not much good for Sengoku at all.
cheers

Ans so speaketh the Japanese expert, which means that I shall not be bothering.....
Maybe once we have seen them out of the box we can judge for ourselves.
Anyone have any of the range?
-
Good inspiration for some scratch building too (for those of us samuraiing in larger scales)
Great find :)

Bad quality? Too small? Gives us more details! ;)
-
Got them and they're sweet. Some of the textures don't appear on the pics from internet and won't be easy to paint since the details are really small (well at least not easy for me). Lots of elements here and there. I don't like the little trees but I know most of my buddies wouldn' t mind seeing them on the table.
Too bad some of the products are now unavailable but at least you can actually buy them on the contrary of some of the other stuff I see here and that you can't buy unless you know the secret magic password... ;)
Even with crazy import taxes, it was still cheaper than the Zenit stuff and much much better (smaller tho).
-
Sorry, White Knight, just never got around to them....... 8)

Ahh, the infamous plastic pile next to the lead-pile lol
I have a polystyrol foam pile (builings I construct and never paint) for that.

....does anyone have pics of them unboxed?

I will find mine in the lead Shed and get some piccies done.

Cheers, mate!

Really nice, and had I any lead invested in Japanese themed games, I might have been pulled in by the dark side. As it is though, I've so far been able to resist the temptation of the samurai... :D
Still; these are 1/60 and unless one goes 25mm, I fear they might be on the small side, especially when considering 30mm minis on a base. And since I really like the ability to move miniatures inside of buildings, they might not have been for me.
But you can't beat the price, that's for sure! ;)

Should n't that be sheds, John?
-
Started a dry run with the inn. I think they will look alright with Perry sized figures but small with Dixons say. The width is right but they are only about two inches deep, so, handy at the edges of a table or against a wall, but may look a bit weak in the middle. On the plus side, all the Japanese artwork and calligraphy comes printed ready to glue on the models.

Here it is finished, I put it on a GW base and lost some of the fine detail bits. Nice frontage, but no depth:

looks great, any chance of a shot with a 28 mm mini?

Looks like a rather handy bit of board edge scenery. Nicely painted by the way!
-
Glancing at the website (I do love me some Hobby Link Japan) - it definitely appeared that some of them are much more facade/diorama based rather than actual gaming structures. HLJ can be dangerous though - all sorts of amazing Japanese mecha/ships etc. for $3-5 a pop...gets addicting!
-
Not too difficult to paint. I sprayed much of it on the sprue. The pictures, awnings, signs, etc are paper sheets in the kit. There were loads of hanging lanterns and so on, but this is for gaming so I left off the stuff. Nice for a game and you could put something behind it to give depth, or just leave it as is, its only a game.
-
Thanks for posting the piccies, John.
Much appreciated.
:)
It seems these will certainly have their uses.
Depth can always be added if needs be.
-
They are very cheap but due to the lack of depth I would rather pay the extra for these.

Though as others have mentioned they would look good for the edges.
