I completed these last night and was able to get some pictures taken:

Nice! I've got some Red Box Dwarves waiting to be painted at the moment. The best 28mm fantasy miniatures on the market.

Thanks everyone!  I agree, RBG are some of the best fantasy miniatures on the market.

I love the figures, pretty much all of the redbox lines.  However, they are not compatible in size to anything I have and that's a darn shame.  I'd have them all otherwise...ESPECIALLY the dwarves.

This is a common complaint leveled at RBG and whilst I fully appreciate where it's coming from, I think one of the aspects I appreciate about the range is precisely that it is not designed to be compatible with GW miniatures unlike virtually every other fantasy manufacturer out there. I think that eschewing this common and frankly tiresome look look is part of what makes the range so distinctive and, for me at least, attractive. I have based my 28mm fantasy skirmish collection around Red Box stuff and after a little online investigation have found a number of manufacturers that produce compatible miniatures. And yes, the Dwarves are lovely: I can't wait to start painting mine.

Exactly how are they not compatible? Too big, too small, too....? I like some of them as add-ons for my Arthurians (Morgan Le Fay etc). Any further clarification gratefully received!

Too small to play nice with most of the usual suspects (citadel, partha, reaper).

Some of Tre's old goblins were as small as those Bob Olley sculpted for Splintered Lights 15/18/20mm Splintered Lands range. Some find it refreshing, I find it annoying. Same thing with Otherworld. If I was getting back into miniatures now, and didn't already have a huge collection I would go Otherworld, RBG and sprinkle with a generous helping of the classic Julie Guthrie sculpts she did for Grenadier - they should match nicely.

How do you think they would work with Perry and Fireforge miniatures?
I've got a Otherworld Fighter(the variant) and he is about the same size, but the proportions are a bit different.

I'm sure someone can provide a scale shot with the OW fighter next to some Red Box minis, and then you'd be able to determine if they fit Perry and Fireforge (none of which I'm familiar with in the flesh). I don't have any of either, as I sold them off after getting samples.

That's very helpful. I've got some Guthrie Grenadier minis lying around somewhere, so I'll scale off them.

Thanks,

If I wasn't so heavily invested in Reaper, Blacktree, Heartbreaker, Heresy, Hasslefree, Celtos, WHFB etc., I'd be all over these.  I just can't waste that investment though.

Whether they're compatible with other minis or not, you did a SPLENDID job bringing the Little Lads to Life. OUTSTANDING WORK!

I have to agree with the comments about the size of the RBG figures.  They would work well with Perry Miniatures and Games Workshop's LotR lines (most of them anyways).

Likewise! They are quite lovely. I dug out an old Guthrie Grenadier mini and stood it with my Arthurians and well, he's a midget. Shame, back to the old drawing board!

I was in early on the KS.  When they arrived I had to give them to my wife to paint.  They were just too tiny for me.  Beautiful nonetheless and your PJ is fantastic.  Thanks for sharing.

Some RBG fighters with OW adventurers.

Hope that helps.  ;)

Thanks a lot, stone-cold-lead.

I am not sure if I think they quite fit, but they seem to be worth considering. Maybe some of their female fighters will fit relly well.

Something I am not sure about regarding both these and OTHERWORLDs adeventurers is all the extra equipmen they are carrying. If you use them as adventurers it is perfect, but they do not fit so well in a warband or an army, perhaps.
