Picked up the supplement for Force on Force. I like it but want options for 1960's and 1970's possibilities. Anybody write a set of rules or even a book based on a WP/NATO type war in those eras?
Gracias,
Glenn

Other than 'When Angels Wept' by Eric G. Swedin, which covers the Cuban Missile Crisis, but goes down the nuclear war route, I'm not aware of any that cover anything conventional, which doesn't mean there isn't of course.
Brendan DuBois wrote the novel "Resurrection Day", which was set after the crisis in a recovering America and offers some brief glimpses of how the invasion went. I liked it, especially the hatred of Kennedy amongst the survivors, the belief amongst some that 'Kennedy lives', which provides the back story and the patronising nature of the British. You could probably pick huge holes in it here and there, but as most fiction goes, it was quite good I thought.
Obviously the main flashpoint of the fifties-sixties, besides Cuba, was the Berlin Crisis 1958 to 1962. I'm not aware of anything on that, besides an academic paper I heard of way back.
As you and I know, being of an age, the big explosion in 'what ifs' came in the 80's, with General Hackett and Harold Coyle, amongst others.

Since I got some cheap Strv 103's I'm considering basing some scenarios of the very right wing novel "Operation Garbo". Russians and Swedes battling it out in the Scandinavian Mountains...

Glenn, I like where your going with this, I am currently starting a side project to my musorias burning in 28 mm in 15 mm that is a cold war hot set in the mid fifties....like the whole idea of prop planes and jets...will be set middle east during Suez, with the allies vs soviets who intervened on behalf of Egypt.
just more food for thought.

You could possible also use the Hungarian uprising of 56 as a flash point if your going for the 50's in Europe.

Ive been researching this period lately...tons of potential from Europe to middle east to Asia lots of spots to jump off Soviet take over of Iran...so many to chose from .

I very much like the idea of 1950s-1970s Cold War - but not much later. I have a fair collection of 1950s era Canadians for my Alien invasion project, that could just as well be for a Cold War scenario.

I would like to see some of those 1950s Canadians :)

The US was a bit busy elsewhere for much of the 1960s. Hence a fairly tepid response to the Soviet invasion of Czechoslovakia in 1968. Still, beyond, the Berlin Wall and Cuban Missile crisis it does give you a potential flash point.
