RAFM CALL OF CTHULHU 7th EDITION MINIATURES FUND RAISING TO
BEGIN!
Brantford, ON – July 9, 2013 – Silver Fox Productions Inc. will launch their new
fundraising program for RAFM Call of Cthulhu 7th Edition miniatures at this link
http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/call-of-cthulhu-miniatures/x/582666. The program
will start on Thursday, July 11 and run until August 9, 2013.
RAFM Call of Cthulhu Miniatures line provides gamers with pieces to bring life to
Chaosium’s classic roleplaying game of Lovecraftian horror, in which ordinary people
are confronted by the terrifying and alien forces of the Cthulhu Mythos. Rafm Call of
Cthulhu miniatures are hand sculpted white metal miniatures which can be painted or
used to represent characters and monsters during game play. This bestselling line has won
many game-industry awards and supports the Call of Cthulhu 7th Edition Chaosium
Kickstarter.
This fund raising project aims to build a new edition of this classic horror miniature line
and replace up to 85 miniatures in one project. Could you please pass this information
along to your subscribers?
RAFM Company Inc, began producing rules and then miniatures for the gaming industry
in 1979. RAFM Call of Cthulhu miniatures has probably been our most successful line.
Envisioned and sculpted by Bob Murch for the Call of Cthulhu RPG by Chaosium Inc.
the figures have transcended the industry and been reissued by many companies. None
compare with the lasting tradition of the line. All miniatures are produced for
Chaosium's Call of Cthulhu Role-playing Game and continue to be an official licensed
product for the Call of Cthulhu Role-playing Game TM Seventh Edition.

That's great news for sure, your range is still the best Cthulhu based one for me.

Who will be sculpting the new edition? Bob Murch again? Hopefully.

Regarding the "invoicing at the manufacture cost" issue specifically, please note that for it to be of use there needs to be both a hard copy of the manufacture cost invoice and an electronic copy of the same in order to satisfy your typical European customs office.

Having a European retailer handling the shipping from this end would be preferable to such antics of course but maybe one cannot be arranged.

I was tenth contributor, for $100, taking the total to $850.

This will turn out to be an excellent buy if lots of other people have faith and buy in.

While I do like alot of the RAFM Cthulhu range, I'm pretty hesitant to pre-fund something without knowing what the sculpt quality is going to be.

Also, I agree with the scaling issue.  Will the humans be scaled to some of the more modern RAFM line?

Scale will be 28mm with some variance as usual depending on the sculptors. We have started an information forum to go along with the campaign at http://rafm.com/phpbb3/viewforum.php?f=20 (http://rafm.com/phpbb3/viewforum.php?f=20) to answer questions. You have to have an account to post but reading is free.

Does Indiegogo charge the card when you pledge or later like how Kickstarter? I just want to know before I pledge because I use a debit card...wife and I don't have Credit Cards.

I don't think that right since it's a flexible funding campaign -- there is no "failure" as such and hence no refunding either:
http://support.indiegogo.com/entries/20566503-Fixed-vs-Flexible-Funding

ETA: also, on the perks limits -- if all of them get taken, the total funding goes up to $158.500 I believe. That leaves $41.500 to be funded without perks for the last stretch goal at $200.000 to be met. Which is... interesting

ETA-2: forget about that last bit, it's already been explained (sort of anyway) in the updates section:

NO.......

You get charged immediately and DO NOT GET YOUR MONEY BACK if the flexible funding project does not reach its goal.  Getting a refund/re-imbursement out of Indigogo is extremely difficult.

Indigogo does have the option for "fixed" funding where you get your money back from failed projects but RAFM do not set theirs up that way.

The project owner still has to pay the IGG fee even if the project fails (currently 9%) so that either has to come from his own pocket or out of any money pledged, if it has gone on paying the fees for a failed project how do you get your money back? Don't forget these schemes are not sales and are not covered by buyers protection.

Flexible campaigns are a very risky investment....read all the FAQ's before putting any money into these types of project.

I may pledge, I really like the line and if it hits the goals that would be a sweet deal. I woul dnot be able to pledge until 2 weeks for the next payday.

You pay a 4% platform fee.*
You are required to fulfill perks.
If you don't reach your goal...
You keep all funds raised, minus fees.
You pay a 9% platform fee.*
You are required to fulfill perks.

Fixed Funding
If you reach your goal...
You keep all funds raised, minus fees.
You pay a 4% platform fee.*
You are required to fulfill perks.
If you don't reach your goal...
All contributions are refunded.
You pay no fees.
You are not required to fulfill perks.

If a contributor backs out we lose the fees (9% until fully funded) unless we can somehow claim these back from IndieGoGo. Please make sure you understand the terms before contributing. James Van Schaik will do some sculpts, and this is good news. You can see some of his works here: http://jamesvanschaik.blogspot.fr/
Also, a bonus figure has been granted to backers:

I hope that will boost the campaign, since there are only 30 backers so far.

Alright, alright, the limited slots and guaranteed old stuff (that fit well to my collection or rather its holes) did it. Master deal #1 is mine, I think. :D

I'm unfortunately rather underwhelmed by the new deals :?

I've already got all of the old line that I want from the miniatures offered so there's no real added incentive to buy into this. I suppose it would've been too complicated to just offer a $40/$80 voucher to the existing CoC line...

I just asked them a similar question, to fill the holes in my collection I would need minis that are not included in the deals...
But the guys from RAFM have been usually rather helpful in the past, so I hope that there will be a possibility to change to other models as long as one stays within the limits of $40/$80. And the 'deal' packages ARE good! Hope that this sparks more interest in the community to back this.

I'll see what we can work out with some sort of voucher for those that want a different offering of miniatures. We should be able to add something to the program along those lines.

Same here actually - I just 'need' a handful of blisters of the old line, and the models offered are not always usefull to have in duplicate. I'll wait and see a bit.

I think this is an interesting fund raiser, which was enough value for my money unless enough money was raised. It's good to see a few iniatives to get more backers, but a shame too see that these options are/were limited and that the difference with a "normal" pledge and a master pledge with free shipping is so big. Sadly my funds are also tied up until the start of the next month and even then I'll probably wait and see where this is going.

How about this: at a given perk X you'd get Y points of "Cthulhu Credits" that can be used at the "Special IndieGoGo shoppe". Put the old stuff you want to shift (the more the merrier of course) into the latter and  price it in CCs. For example a pack of three Deep Ones might cost 1 CC, a Dunwich Horror might cost 5 CC or whatever you feel appropriate. You can put a retail price next to the CC cost for comparison purposes.

There is now a "add $20 to your pledge and get a $40 voucher to spend on the old line" option, and since the first stretch goal has been met, it's now $50 for 8 investigators, not too bad, I think.

Post by: tnjrp on July 24, 2013, 06:17:37 AM
Sure if you got in on the "free p&p" deal, otherwise it's $65 minimum. I guess $8+ isn't excessive for a single mini these days tho.
Title: Re: Call of Cthulhu 7th edition miniatures fund raising to begin!
Post by: achab on July 26, 2013, 10:35:01 PM
If I understand correctly the last update, RAFM has decided two open two more stretch goals ($12000 and £20000), even though these amounts are not reached yet. This is a bit unusual, but it seems a good way to boost a campaign that hardly makes $100/day lately.
Quote
This deal brings the value of the miniatures to $4.54 per investigator and $11 per monster. Plus you have access to all the Stretch Goals still to be opened. Those miniatures will retail for $6 and $16 or more each. That's a 25+ percent discount and the price gets even better if you take advantage of one of our deals or if more stretch goals open.

These Mask figures are stretch goals, so, no way to get them now, and it would need a serious boost of backers to get them ($29000 and $35000, while we are now a bit under $13000, with a slow increase rate.
Here is a new sculpt, with a very Dr. Jones/pulp flavour:

This one is available to all backers pledging for characters miniatures.

You have 2 $50 pledges, one for monsters, one for investigators. You get 4 monsters with the monster pledge: 1 Great Race, 1 Byakhee, 2 Mi-goes. And a bonus figure (Journalist)
With the Investigator pledge, you get 11 character figures, ie, 10 investigators plus the same bonus figure.
You can combine the two pledges  for $100 (and you save some postage, I think). You must add some p&p fees to all the pledges.
If you are interested in old RAFM Cthulhu range, you can have the same figures bundled with some old figures; these pledges are the "deal" pledges, and cost $60 for Investigator and Monster, or 120 for both.
Then, you can pledge for add-ons, ie $20 for a $40 voucher to spend on the old Cthulhu range, and $25 (+p&p) to get the flying polyp, also bundled with some old minis.

While they are nice sculpts without a doubt, not to much there that I'm that interested in adding to my collection. The investigators are quite characterful this time around, but nothing I feel any pressing need for, don't see the need for armed Mi-go and Yithians, but liking the interpretation of the Byakhee and probably nab the Polyp too.

I got mine in Finland last week so at least some ship has managed to cross the pond with this stuff. Of course, yours may be in another one. Also, mine were sent on Dec 12th while the last batches were allegedly shipped in mid-January, thus the arrival also depends on your selection.

I haven't received anything, but shipping date was jan 7th. Surface mail from Canada to EU can take up to 6 weeks and there's always the possibility that there's an additional delay in customs. I'll start to worry if I haven't received anythin gby march.

fwiw, The US Midwest has been hit by a pretty hard snowstorm, so I'm guessing the January shipments are taking a long while to get out of Canada, which is further north. I had a small package from Minnesota (that's just south of Canada) that took *six* days to just leave the state. But if anyone's received their resin polyps, let me know! (:
