In 28mm it should be a lot easier, 1/72nd is very fiddly.

Prof...have you checked out 4Ground's MDF wagons? All quite excellent, in various periods --- might be able to knock one into what you'd like. They have some "ancient" wagons for SAGA style stuff...might be fitting? They also sell sheets of wagon wheels which may be worth looking into. Price seem very reasonable.
