So, as a small aside project, I was staring at my Dwarven Forge stuff, and it hit me - I could use this for a Castle Wolfenstein/Wolfenstein 3D setup.
So, 1) where can one find German Shepherd minis?
And 2) what would be a good system to use for 3-4 players, each using a suped up hero, to fight hordes of GM or opposing player run Nazi bad guys? Any ideas?

First, promotion of "Castle W." is still restricted under German law. Please do not post screenshots etc.

Foundry have one including handler in their WW2 range:

I've got a copy of the set and its a bit on the small side for more modern minis, but would work with Foundry (obviously), Black Tree and possibly Artizan Germans at a pinch.
Westwind have a similar set, in which the dog looks a bit derpy, IMHO:

Reaper have some dogs which might work as German Shepherds with a matching paint job:

Those are possibly better suited in size, if not necessarily breed.

Showdown might work, especially if you give the heroes some protection in the shape of heavier armours - from what I heard, those protection values are quite effective when facing enemies with poorer equipment. Also, the rules are decently fast-paced and not too difficult to grasp, although I find character creation a pain with the existing troop builder.

I thought about this kind of project too a few years ago, and came to the conclusion that it would work best as a rather simple boardgame style ruleset, maybe like Doom: The Board Game with some bits from that Gret Escape game thrown in (it's name "escapes" me atm ;) )

Best german shepherds I've seen so far are from Crooked Dice's 7TV range.
And such a project has a lot of potential I'd think. Perfect excuse to mix your WWW minis with your fantasy terrain! :D
+++EDIT+++ forgot to mention; for rules, why not give .45 a try? Every chance to soup up your heroes, plus allies and enemies come in minion, lieutenant and big bad boss levels, which should suit your plans. It even has a Weird War expansion...

Why thank you :)
Here's a piccie. You can pick these up for £1.60 each of 5 for £7.

I actually remembered that, and was going to try and make sure I was careful about how I photographed stuff. It came home for me some years ago when someone had to edit their Hitler in a Jar model, so spent some time pouring over those laws. Luckily, I was considering doing printed vinyl banners to hang on the walls of my Dwarven Forge terrain, and I just won't show those here. It isn't like anyone who recognizes the project won't remember what it looked like - the graphics, while complex for the time, were still pretty simplistic.

That's a good idea - I have those rules on the shelf. I have considered the 7TV stuff, but I just have not had the monies to order - any new models I have been getting lately have been only because I have traded for them or sold a mini to buy a mini. I hate bills.
I have actually been considering using the Space Hulk system of having blips that you flip over to see how many enemies are there. Make the counters have "3 soldiers" or "2 Dogs", or even, "Hitler in a Battlesuit".
Which reminds me - anyone do a decent Hitler head besides Golgo Island? I just need the head, so the figure they have is a touch spendy for that.
-
There's at least one pulpy robo-hitler and a "normal" hitler in beige trenchcoat from the 20s political struggle of the NSDAP era.
-
Thought this might interest you. A Robot Hitler is available from Copplestone's KKBB range if you are unfamiliar (in the "evil geniuses" pack).

eBob has some German Shepherds:

I've seen the KKBB range before, and it is not a bad one, but I am going to go through my figures to see what I want to convert to be my Robo-Hitler. I refuse, however, to repaint the basic troopers in brown and blue. I always hated that.
I also feel somewhat responsible that I have seen more necessary edits in this thread than I have ever seen before - not sure why this particular project would cause that, but there we are.
People helping - just post links to pictures if there are any of the images that are to be avoided (swastikas, etc.)
On a more pleasant note, the 7TV alsatians - is there only the one pose?

Sorry about the pic. It escaped my notice, thanks moderators!
