The new "Swatters!" rules by Ganesha, dealing with xenomorph combat, cover the Khurasan 15mm space demon range almost completely, but add a troop type I don't have in my range -- yet! They are called drones and are basically small swarm bugs, not individually a threat but capable of distracting the marines when they should be firing at the deadly space demons bounding up towards them.
Any ideas on range-appropriate drone appearance? I have some ideas but thought I'd put it before the group to get feedback.

Something like Necron Scarabs? With a penchant for hugging people in the face perhaps?

make them 28mm!

What about a swarm of these?

I'd say a cross between Daeothar's latter and Consectari's ideas. Unless you'd prefer it to be one or the other. In which case I'd go with Daeothar's suggestion.

When I was playtesting Swatters in 28mm (http://sho3box.wordpress.com/tag/swatters/) earlier this year I used my facehuggers and chestbursters as Swarms and cheap toy maggots and ants as Drones. Swarms are scarier than Drones so it seemed appropriate, plus I didnt have appropriate painted swarm models to hand.
The drones are individually rubbish. They definitely have uses and are used as sentry types in some of the scenarios so its a good idea to have a few, but even in a large group they dont feel as scary as a large group of face huggers should. Which is why I used facehuggers as swarms, which are a bit more dangerous, rather than speed bumps, if you know what I mean.
So I reckon that the drones should be the equivalent of bug civilians, not really designed for aggression. Probably not as dangerous as a pack of face-huggers.
A crappy phone photo to illustrate the route that I took for drones:

It will be interesting to see what you Khurasan guys come up with :)

Assuming you want to make a model to fit the rules rather then the other way round. (Fun to see this process in action) I would say that Cheetor's post is imperative here.
Considering the way the game describes them (alien version of civilians, only mindless) I would say they a slug or leech like appearance could work. In my opinion they should probably look plump, they are as non-com as the bugs get and thus should look like "big juicy targets" Plump and soft. a bug you can actually stomp on without your leg getting chewed of for once. lol

Thanks Cheetor.
