Title: Mayan Adventure
Post by: thebunkergames on July 26, 2013, 06:03:59 PM
Hi Gents
After my recent travels inthe Yucatan I am inspired to churn out some more Meso-american terrain.
Digging out some Indiana Jones playsets I will start a Mayan construction wip

Thanks Gents
The rough plan is to build a 'house of Chaacs' using the mouth of the largest Chaac as a door way.
The building will be on a detachable plinth(the plinth will be user friendly across the anceint world) with
snake/crocodile(depending on your view point) staircase decoration.
That is a very base outline so far

Very nice! Keep us posted...this would equally apply to Pulp games.

Where did you go in the Yucatan? I've been to a number of Mesoamerican sites. My all time favorite is probably Tikal, in Guatemala. I've also been to ones in Honduras, Belize and of course Mexico. There are always more to visit it seems...

Hi Mike
We stayed at Chichen Itza & Uxmal & visited sites in a 2hour radius including Campeche. All good quality stuff with lots of inspiration. Having breakfast opposite a Chaac Mool is just unreal.
Hope to get some WIP pics up today

Shaun

Started work on the large idol
Firstly preparing the model. I removed a layer of stone work 1) To make it more figure friendly 2) to have an open base that fits better on my terrain squares 3) to save the stonework that is hidden under the base
.
The model was glued with scrap plastic card supports & filled with Caulk

Next the Vine growing up the front of the statue is picked out with Nato Green (Tamiya) then Woodland Green (Citadel) and final highlight of Bumble Bee Yellow (Wilkinson test pot)

The whole model has a light drybrush of Cockpit Green (Tamiya) - heavier on the lower base area, giving a moss effect

Small clumps of static grass are PVA 'd to the base area

And lastly the whole model is given a coat of hairspray to seal it

And that it folks!
