Hi Folks
I was seeking opinions from people who have actually put together and painted the two boxes of plastic Napoleonic Austrians.
The one by Victrix and the one by Perry Miniatures.
Here is the link to the Victrix site:

and here is the one to the Perry:

I'm interested in your thoughts about; ease of assembly, accuracy and overall appearance, also how they look next to each other (can you mix them together?). And any preference, or no preference, or both are good, or do you prefer metals? I will be painting a few battalions for a client and I wanted to do a little recon before recommending one set or both or neither.
Again while I appreciate that folks have strong opinions about miniatures I really am only interested in opinions from those who have worked with either or both.
Thanks very much in advance for your time.

I've got some of the Victrix ones, a good kit overal. The sculpting style is a bit more cartoony than the Perry set but it has a lot more options for poses, the Perry ones are just marching. Something else which is nice about the victrix set is the fact that you get two command frames with options for a mounted officer on each of them.
What some consider a drawback of the Victrix box is that the marching poses on the Austrians aren't 100% accurate with how they were really used. Its a minor detail that is just as easily ignored.

Thanks Woopius
I'll keep the comments in mind. I didn't even know they gave you a mounted officer to go with the set as an option!
Cheers

I have boxes of both but so far have only put together the Perry ones....as said, they are the blog standard marching poses but do make nice looking units. I have done a lot of converting with my Perry plastics, so as to increase the variety. Speaking of which, while Victrix figs are a bit cartoony they are varied and great for those interested in skirmishes and such. Lots of variety in the poses available.
Hope this helps.

Thank you for your help. I've ordered some of the Victrix and Perry. I'll vary the poses and do some conversions and hopefully will have the makings of a smashing good Austrian Army. What sold me was the mounted officer included in the box.

The victrix ones are very nice, simple but that's fine for big blobs of white coated infantry, and I actually think you get two mounted officers if I recall.

2 Mounted Officers? Even better King Tiger!
Don't want to call them blobs though.....it might affect their morale. lol

But...their Austrians...I think their officers do a good enough job of that :P
I did have painted pics once posted of the plastic Austrians painted as dutch militia, but after a week they only had 3 views, so I took them off unfortunately due to lack of interest (funny thing was it got hundreds of views after locking it)
