Warploque's ArceWorlde kickstarter is up,
it's a new fantasy skirmishing game and includes some great mini's
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/warploqueminiatures/arcworlde-the-fantasy-skirmish-wargame
these are the first four warbands that are available through the kickstarter, but I'm hoping warpy will add some of the bigger beasties he's done in one of the future stretchgoals

This is an open message to Alex.
First the positive stuff.
I really like the halflings/not-hobbits very much. :) Stylistically they are and are not JRRT Hobbits. Which is an outstanding thing IMO. :o Love LOTR books :-* and these catch a new view of the concept of halflings in an original point of view. 8) You're only 20? Damn, less than a third of my age and three times as much artistic talent on my best day. :'( Ever. o_o
Well-prepared KS, well-thought out and I like that you have so much sculpted or even master casted (is that a real verb?) You have been thinking of this for a while, haven't you? Artistic and sharp! You have good potential to be a force in this hobby for a long time I suspect. 8) :)
Now the negative stuff. ::)
Well, not really negative... ;)
The other warbands don't appeal to me. :-I Now that is not saying they are not well sculpted or that I don't actually appreciate them. I just have so many fantasy figures (even after getting rid of most of my OD&D FRPG pieces) that I am not in the market for more except the 1970's Der Kriegspieler Dwarf and Lesser Orc figures (latter now cast legitimately and former very rarely on EvilBay.) I think you will have lots of attention paid to them. Since I won't be buying them I won't comment on the styles (plus or minus) as they appear to me. Your worst sculpt is still beyond any hope of my achieving I suspect. :(
Another set of fantasy rules (not just yours) I don't need. lol Looking to find my FGU Space Marines rules (pre GW) to show a friend the Extreme Old School Modifiers style of rules of the 1970's visually reminded me that I have a crate and two filing cabinet drawers of Historical/Science Fiction/Fantasy/VSF/Pulp/etc., rules I will never use. :-X
Let me congratulate you (in advance) on achieving you goals in this KS and your future efforts in this hobby..
BTW, your seamstress is pretty dern good!
Gracias,
Glenn

Some good looking miniatures there! I would recommend getting some paint on some of those figures ASAP - would likely draw far more attention.
Alas my hobby budget is stretched pretty thin at the moment, and I am getting less and less keen on waiting 6-12 months for figures. I will keep an eye open for them once they come available in retail.
As for the comment on yet another set of fantasy rules, I bet they will be good, but I doubt I would have any luck finding someone to pick it up as well in my area, unfortunately :?
-
Love the waistcoat.
The pirates look tempting.
-
Very interesting idea, I like the sculpts. And I second the trying some painted versions up soon.
I can also totally see use for the human's. Need some mounted and dismounted dragoons and a few men with swords.
-
I thought the halflings were available before, I remember seeing painted ones by Hubbynz:
http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=55342.msg656071#msg656071
but on closer inspection they seem to be different sculpts
-
I'm almost put in mind of a not-Discworld.
-
On his facebook page there's even more characterful minis, the Unithiorn and River Bull Troll amongst my favorite.
-
There's also a ton of great stuff he's shown on his Frothers thread that I was hoping would be part of this kickstarter but he's only just getting started so I'm hoping we'll see some of that stuff as stretchgoals
http://frothersunite.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=30789&hilit=warploque
I already have one of his cocklegriffs (p88) but I'd love get my hands on the thingflinger (p118) and the zombie whale and zombie ahab(p105/106)
-
I really like the minis :) and so I am tempted to take part in my second kickstarter (after Olympus from Crocodile).
The video is a real smasher and the stretch goals improve the value by quite a margin I think. Hmmm......
cheers Thomas
-
I shouldn't do this. I don't need these. I probably will gift them to someone who can appreciate them.
That said, I choose to support this sculptor and his project even if it is only for one war band! I won't count this as breaking my intent to not back another KS until my other ones arrive because I plan on giving these as a gift...
I just won't go to lunch a couple of times to fit it into the budget...
Gracias,
Glenn

Oh whatta you know, Frother's back up running - great stuff! Funny how the World keeps on trucking while you're trying to adjust to your new profession as dad :D

I chucked in nearly a 100 quid today, couldn't really figure out how to choose stretch goal minis but think it will work out in the end.

new warband added: Wildelves

Any idea how much I would need to pledge to get just the big troll figure?

Make any size pledge (minimum 3GBP) and then add 20GBP for the addition of the troll fig. That's 23GBP, which is 2GBP lower than suggested retail apparently.

Ta! Time to ponder. It's a great model......
EDIT: ....and in. Just gone in for the extra troll ........for now.
-
So...
The game looks fantastic... Why oh why couldn't he tie it in with Mantic's world, since that's really where all of the fantasy game time that I have is going these days (which amounts to about 8 hours in the past 1.5 years :'( ).
But, does anyone know what the average number of figures per game is as well as the figure-to-soldier scale is? Is it a mass battle type game like Impetvs or FoG/DBMM? Is it a mass skirmish like Warhammer, that requires hundreds of figures? Is it a skirmishy game with a handful of models, or something inbetween?
I am eagerly awaiting the gameplay video too!
Thanks

Fire Dragon Strech goal unlocked :-* :-* :-*
(http://i683.photobucket.com/albums/vv191/WarplockM/Kickstarter/the-dragon.jpg)

I begin to realize that 95 quid ain't gonna be enough to satisfy myself with this kickstarter...
-
I really can't afford this at all, but I'm in for the Halfling warband and characters. Just too lovely to pass up, and since I have a bunch of the old resin ones... well... be silly not to! :D
-
Really love the Halflings too. The dragon is a sure thing!
I like the idea you can game on a small area with an approx warband size force as shown right up to larger actions. Nothing new I suppose, but a great way to get you started in ArcWorlde.
If you had the ability to get a halfling designed by Alex what your character (miniature) look like?

Ooooh, now then...
I think I would be tempted to go for a shameless vanity sculpt of myself as a Halfling, but that would be horribly difficult as I'm over six foot and built like a racing snake... Not traditional Halfling stock.
Probably would go for a kind of rogue, with a sword and buckler, slightly bored and arrogant looking, either drinking from a wine bottle or giving the two-fingered salute. :)

Sounds neat JB.
I was thinking of a past campaigner who has come out of retirement. wearing an open face helm with a rams head on top, rams cloak, slung shield with a rams head embossed on shield. Left hand gripping sword hilt and three right hand options. One holding spear, holding tankard and lastly holding ram horn (musician). I could then make a small unit.
Not sure what clothing apart from the cloak I would have him dressed in.

Seriously tempted by this kickstarter ;) The rules look like a bit like the lotr skirmish rules (only took a brief look though) what I quite like!
Must resist, does anybody know if you can pledge using paypal?

Not from what I can see. You could ask.

I have just seen this ..visited the ks page and I am really impressed...well done!
I think our hobby has a good future with people like this coming through
-
Very pleased to see these:

I’ve delved into his sketch pad and found out he has plans for various other types of Trolls – there are Hill, Jungle and Mountain. It'd be more than my life's worth if I showed any of his precious secret sketches, but I can say that the Mountain Troll looks particularly huge and awesome.
- James, Warploque Kickstarter
Thank goodness someone is making Trolls with big ugly noses again. Looking forward to seeing the Warploque Mountain Troll especially!

He's released Hill, Forrest and Mountain Trolls way back when he started, in fact his trolls are what got my attention in the first place you can see them in the first post his frothers thread:
http://frothersunite.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=30789&hilit=warploque
Looks like he's resculpting all his old releases though, good cause despite loving them, I never picked up his trolls

Oh wow, i missed them! Very nice indeed. I might have to get that mountain troll for my not-PJ Balin's Tomb diorama.

Ive drooled at those trolls since they were first released.
I dont whant to join in on another kickstarter but the trolls are luring me.. And those Jungle gremlins looks promising and fun to paint to.
I´ll wait and hope to see some more pictures or concept art on those atleast.

New Stretchgoals:
These guys will be unlocked if they hit 32500
The Unithorn especially is :-* :-* :-*

Upped my pledge for the forest troll and I see there is possibly a jungle troll too.
This KS is proving to be troll-centric for me.
-
thingflinger is now also available, I've been waiting for this one for over a year ever since the first WIP pics on frothers :-* :-* :-*, you've just gotta love the random sheep as ammo :D

-
Oh wow! I don't collect hobbitses and i don't even wargame but i got to have me one of these!
-
Yup, just upped my pledge as well, cannot resist the Thingflinger! :-*
-
Going into the home stretch with a new mini unlocked, it's still WIP but already rather tasty, I really wished I had money for both the Dragon and this guy
(http://www.warploqueminiatures.co.uk/arcworlde/giant1.jpg)
-
Damn he Finally added the Zombie Whale, no to see if I can find another 50 squids to pay for it
(http://www.warploqueminiatures.co.uk/arcworlde/leviathan.jpg)
-
The undead whale is so cool i might just have to start an undead pirate army just to use it. The only thing it needs is a big juicy eyeball hanging out of its head (luckily, even i can sculpt something that simple).
It seems i'm one of the biggest cheerleaders for Archeworlde on this thread... I think its because the ideas are all so strong.
-
I've been loving it so far. The designs are all excellent and there is enough there to get anyone's creative juices going.
I am in for all the Halflings, Jungle Gremlins and Bayourks.
Fabbo stuff!
-
While the undead whale is a very cool concept, and it is a nice sculpt, I can't accept it at that price. The sculpt is nice, but I wouldn't say top notch (the giant and dragon are more in that league). But hey, some folks will like it for sure.
-
Final Push and a look at all the warband options, I'm already backing this at as much as I can afford, but I really wished I could add another warband or another one of the big guys:

So much funky stuff!
I'm already at the limit I'd set myself, but Alex just keeps producing more fantastic figures and I have a horrible burning feeling in my soul when I know I'll have to wait to buy them at full price. >:(
I initially only wanted the Halfling warband, but that has crept up to include the standard, cook, town guard and thing flinger. I'm already missing out on the mounted captain and the promo models... Really wish I could afford to back for the Albionicans as well.
