Title: Sci-Fi fighter (scratchbuilt)
Post by: dampfpanzerwagon on 13 August 2013, 10:15:16 PM
I recently came across an article on ARC, building a sci-fi fighter from scrap spares.

See this link;
http://www.arcair.com/ and go to Tuesday, Aug 13 2013 and look at MF 08 (Modified Project No.8)

That's cool, who would think of using two upside down F-16's as engines, the intakes are just right.

I'm wishing now I didn't throw out all my bits and pieces 10 years ago. A good find, and will remind me to think of the potential use for everything.

Never throw anything gaming related away!

My missus disagrees with that theory, though....

Well nor do I now! Back then it was model aircraft before I discovered wargaming.

Now I can go into any shop and scan for items that could be used in a game lol

Awesome; it's very Star Warsy. I like it! 8)

I've done something similar myself back in the day (well over 20 years ago... ::) ) with models I had to throw away because my cabinet could not fit any more model planes. I picked the ones I was the least pleased about and, in a (by now very familiar ;) ) fit of bitz hoarding, I took off all those parts I thought I might be able to use later.

And before I knew it, I was cutting and glueing them together again, until I had an assembled SciFi fighter, which I also painted and added decals to later.

If I remember correctly, it had the fuselage of a Starfighter, the reversed wings of a Sukhoi 7, the tailfins of an F18 and canards, which were the stabilizers of the same F18. Many other parts were used as well. I vaguely remember some Concorde engine pods and loads of underwing ordnance...

Well at least I managed to bash several models into one, so some breathing space for my cupboard was gained after all... :D

Starwarsy and Buck Rogers definitely.

Nice use of parts mind.    :-*
