Title: Pulp Alley - Table Size?
Post by: redzed on 19 August 2013, 08:21:14 PM
Pulp Alley, just out of curiosity what table size are most people using?

3x3 is the suggested standard size in the rules, and it works nicely for that.

We've done Pulp Alley games up to 5x9 or so, and it works just as well there. The 3x3 standard keeps things tight in the six-turn standard length game, though.

Pulp Alley is a banquet that can be enjoyed on a tea table.  ;D

If we have 4 or fewer players we almost always stick with 3'x3'.

When we have more than 4 players, we like to bump the size up to 4'x4' or even 4'x6' - just depending on the scenario and how many miniatures we're deploying.

All of our current scenarios are designed for a 3'x3' table but most can easily be played on bigger tables without any changes.

How many players are you planning to have?

As above. Most injuries will result from having their eyes poked with a finger.  lol

not really a 3x3 at 28m 'scale' becomes a 6x6 at 54mm 'scale'.

My quote was in relation to using 1/35th scale on a 3x3.  ;)

Oh, very cool! We've seen folks use Pulp Alley in a lot of different scale, but I don't think we've seen 1/35 yet.

If I was going to do 1/35 I'd bump the table size up to 4'x4' or maybe 4'x6'. But I don't think the movement/ranges would need to be adjusted.

Really, I just suggest going with whatever table size looks/feels right and you got a good eye for that kind of thing.

I'm excited to see what you come up with.  :D

Can you post some pictures of your conversions when you do them? I'd be very interested to see them, 54mm would be a great scale to game with.

we play on my 3ft x 4.5ft dining room table
- plenty of room for 3-4 players plus a bunch of scenery
- have a look at some of my AARs to see what you can fit in
