Title: Using Pulp Alley for Mr. Vampire!
Post by: BlackSmoke on August 19, 2013, 10:19:18 PM
Not sure that Pulp is exactly the right place, but I think it's close enough! I posted some rules for using Pulp Alley to play Mr. Vampire on my blog. Any comments or feedback is greatly appreciated!

Oh, and there are some pics of the playtest game on there too!

Obviously Sheng shouldn't give up his day job  lol

Short and sweet with minimum scenery yet still highly entertaining. Well done.  ;)

Very cool, BlackSmoke!  :-*

I really liked the scenario to came up with, and those miniatures looked awesome!

Cool idea!
The Pulp Alley rules really have a lot of uses outside of the Pulp genre.
I was really into Hong Kong Movies in the late 90's. Mr Vampire was a classic.
Always wanted to do a Chinese fantasy or Big Trouble in Little China style project.

Thanks folks! Big Trouble would be awesome! You can get Javk Burton but I've never seen anything even close to the three storms.

Oh yes, my all-time favorite movie.  lol

You might check out the old Legend of the Five Rings miniature line. I bet they'd have something that would pass as the three storms.

I even painted my Dragon Lady from the IHMN Black Dragon Tong with the bridal dresses from BTILC in mind! :)

That's brilliant! Mr Vampire is an all time favourite of mine. I like the rules too. Where ate your figures from?

Thanks! The figures are all from Black Hat's Tales of the Dragon Kings range. Be warned, though! Viewing this range poses a serious threat to your bank balance!

I couldn't agree more, aggro.  :D

The brawling rules really came about due to my fascination with old kung fu movies and even modern MMA fighting. The way you can choose to use your dice to cancel an opponent's dice lets you decide how aggressive/defensive your character is fighting.

When the fights are simultaneously dangerous for both fighters, it makes the brawls a lot more interesting.

No more I-go/You-go.  ;)

Good idea for the Vampire Pulp, I have a host of vampires, werewolves, mummies etc... Pulp Alley looks as if it could be great for the old Hammer House of Horror films.

Indeed, the mix of intrigue, investigation, and action would be a blast. Perfect for Pulp Alley. Love those old Hammer films!  :-*
