oh, man
the whole german army was made up of Fallschirmjäger and Waffen-SS...
who comes noone ever reenacts Volkssturm or HJ?.....
-
Well according to the "license plate" in the first pictures, at least one Heer soldier was represnted ;)
Thanks for the pictures. I'll save some on my computer for further references.
Cheers! 8)

or it could have been commandeered from the "Grossdeutschland" elite division, as the tactical badge says....
still elite only...
-
Grossdeutschland wasn't so much elite as made up of veterans right?
I get what you are saying, though. A lot of reenactment periods have the same ratio of elite:regulars being represented. My mate is in the 33rd Rgt of Foot Napoleonic reenactment group and says quite often the skirmish line of Rifles dwarfs the line of Redcoats.
What always makes me chuckle is the large number of extremely overweight Paratroops or Dad's Army Commandos you see, but that's just life I suppose. No reason they shouldn't enjoy the hobby.
Not that I class anyone in those pics in either group.

The SBG have a HJ/BDM group, they were at a Salute and enjoyed some animosity. I've seen Volkssturm and Heer at War & Peace.

my remark was more tongue in cheek than serious
I had my reenactment times too, where nobody wanted to be peasant or labourer, all princes, dukes and knights, witches and princess.
craftsmen and mercenaries (those who can really do their job and not only pretend) were in high demand.
mechanics and cooks must be the prestigious acts here ;)
no seriously, it is remarkable how much effort is put into reenactment, especially the modern times with all the hardware
THX for the pictures

so nice to see some Heer rather than dozens of fat SS types
-
I went to this and it was an EXCELLENT day out
Romans, AWI, Saxons and Normans, Pike and shot, Jousting and the WW2 re-enactment and more ....
The Paratroops were a great touch and the Hurricane did a Victory Roll which bought a tear to my eye
It happens every year and is a remarkably cheap day out for a History or Miniatures buff - highly recommended
... and great pictures by the way

And there is even a Wargames tent which was rather good although the people demonstating the games seemed quite unwilling to engage in conversation I went around each table and commented on the nicely painted figures and how nice it was to see the hobby at the show and got no more than a cold shoulder... never mind!
