Title: WW1 rules suggested for SAW (1898) games
Post by: Conquistador on 21 August 2013, 11:41:25 PM
As the title says it was suggested WW1 rules would work nicely for Spanish American War (on the assumption it was easier to leave stuff out than add it in.)

So, what rules do you use for WW1 that you think would adapt nicely for SAW games?

Gracias,

Glenn

2nd
basically a simplified 40K, works very well

alternatively T&T, tried both out

I guess Bolt Action should work also, but You would have to leave out most of the automatic weapons and increase the squad numbers
but then they don't have cavalry, do they?

Sorry but nothing GW.  Ever.  Just my choice, nothing intended to criticize those who use GW.

T&T might work.

What other rules do people use for Brigade and Division sized WW1 actions?

Gracias,

Glenn

Make that - What other rules do people use for Platoon, Company, Battalion, Brigade or Division sized WW1 actions?

Gracias,

Glenn

Disposable Heroes has a WW1 supplement called Price of Glory.  Works for me.  It should be just as good for SAW.

TFL's Through the Mud & the Blood would likely work well for Spanish-American War action; the core rules are simple and flexible and it's easy to add custom rules and flavour to the card-deck mechanism.

I've done a bunch of Russian Civil War gaming with M&B, with custom cards to give the various Red & White forces flavour, and I've started work (slowly!) on British and Chinese cards to move solidly into Back of Beyond gaming territory.

Maybe worth trying 'A World Aflame' by Osprey?
