my question is do people think it would be over powered if it was to ignore armor like ark weaponry

That actually is not a bad idea, except for people wearing Faraday coats  lol.

This is NOT an official ruling, so agree the change with your opponents first.

It can be an 'improved' version, made with the points system in the book. I'd be fine with it.
