Title: My New Project
Post by: elysium64 on 31 August 2013, 09:01:46 AM
I have been suffering from severe painters block this year and have painted barely anything, I am collecting together bits for a project currently unnamed but inspired by one specific source (who will work it out first?). I hope this will release my mo-jo again.
To further encourage me to get on with painting and modelling, thought I would document my progress (or lack off ) here.
So to start with this is what I have collected so far:

The two Alien groups are from Inso, beautifully painted, the Demons/zombies were given to me by a friend (spares from Sedition Wars KS), the car and diner are from ebay. I am not sure if I will be using the two Shadowrun figures it all depends how they fit in with the other figures I have on order (Hasslefree & Brother Vinni).
This weekend I intend to rebase the Aliens and repaint the red tunics (to bright for me), and paint the car, if I achieve that I will be happy.
Will post up moire pictures once progress is made or more new toys arrive in the post.
Really inspired by this idea primarily because it lets me choose what figures I want, rather than being told what I require, plus I have some really cool ideas for the rules/scenarios. Hopefully I can break this block and become productive again.

Kinda makes me think of the screenshots/ trailers I've seen for XCOM Declassified.

Very close but not quite. Not a computer game.
Today my Hasslefree figures arrived (still need one maybe two more orders), wonderful castings barely any cleaning up required, these are all cleaned up, undercoated and based. I have also rebased all the aliens.
Tomorrow I want to paint and drybrush the alien bases, re-paint the alien red tunics and paint the car, if successful, photo's tomorrow night.

Nice little project. Do you know the make of the aliens. They look pretty cool.

The Diner is made by Bachmann for O gauge model railways, it is part of their Placticville range, lots of American buildings with a Retro look, not that easy to find in shops in the UK, but always on ebay.
The specimen tubes are again a purchase from ebay, I searched for 30mm clear plastic tubing and their are people selling this stuff cut to length, I then added a 40mm and 30mm base for the base and top of tube, along with a a few spares parts and a couple of Mantic Zombies, will photograph properly one painted.
The Aliens are no longer available, the tall pale Aliens were by Griffin models and the shorter green ones by Brigade Models, I was lucky enough to put out a shout on here, finding some nicely painted ones, Thank you Inso.
I will give this project a name once I have got some proper painting done (not just the re-basing of someone else's figures) or if in the meantime someone works out my main source of inspiration.....

I have that same Bachmann diner - it's a really nice little model and easy to paint. I painted it rusty for an "Lovecraft's Innsmouth" diner...the only pain in the arse are the windows. I used milk jug plastic for them and they turned out pretty nicely.
