I don't know what sort of idol you're after, but I got this one recently:

Came from Woolworths, cost me about £1.50, made of resin, painted up in about half an hour, and is one of those things with a spike on the bottom that you stick in plantpots.

Also, if that isn't quite right, I used the spike off the bottom of it to make this:

Nice, simple, easy to do, cheap and two versatile terrain pieces in minutes.

Hope that helps.

I modified this from the Super Science Tales version for robots. Shhh, don't tell anyone I'm posting rules from the book.  8)

Flamethrower: This weapon is capable of spewing flames. It has a range of 8” with a WEAPON STRENGTH 8. A roll to hit is still required. If a hit is scored, then any model within 2” of the target model will take a hit at WEAPON STRENGTH 4. If a model with a flamethrower is wounded in the Torso location boxes, it must pass a DODGE stat test or the pack explodes as a Type II explosive. A flamethrower can create a “wall of fire”. The wall is 6” long and 2” deep. Any model attempting to pass through takes damage as though they are hit by the flamethrower. The wall cannot be used to target a model. The wall remains as long as the shooter continues to spend an action feeding the flames.

This resin figure is about 8 cm tall at the horns and has gems that can be glued onto the eyes.  The hands and flaming bowl also need to be glued to the main piece.  Its based on the cover picture from the old AD&D Players Handbook and available from Otherworld miniatures.

Hi Ace
Have you thought of looking at eBay? The religion and spirituality section of Collectibles will throw up a lot of reasonably priced statues from the Buddhist, Christian and Hindu faiths.
If you're looking for something more "dinosaury", have you looked at Monolith Design's gothic horror line: http://www.monolithdesigns.co.uk/gothic_horror.htm.
They include a number of Lovecraft-inspired statues which might suit.
Regards
Hugh
