Can't Foundry's Paint Triads be bought anymore??
EDIT: Found them... the new website is a bit... challenging to use with my browser.
Still:
Citadel has changed their entire paint range while I was looking in another direction... If I need substitutes for the former Scorched Brown and Bestial Brown, where should I look? Vallejo? I don't care much for drippers, but if need be...

Vallejo Game Colour has three proxies to those which are closely named.
72143 Beasty Brown and 72145 Scorched Brown are marketed to match those citadel paints. Not *Äquite* as rich in colour as the original but close enough.

Thanks!
I guess that I shall be turning my attention more towards Vallejo, after all. :)

There is an official old/new conversion chart (pdf) available from Games Workshop.
This is the link (http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/content/article.jsp?catId=cat730002a&categoryId=6800002a§ion=&pIndex=0&aId=21600002a&start=1&multiPageMode=true&_requestid=1127526), but you'll probalby just end up on their landing page :?
The item to search for on their site is "Citadel Paint Conversion Chart".

Thanks, I'll have a look - but I was looking through the new paints a a local hobby store, and I don't think the new colours match the former ones completely?

I think that's true. To be honest, I hardly ever use Citadel paints, and only remember the chart because it was a freebie with White Dwarf when they brought out the new ones.
I was more annoyed that they redid the washes, but I have enough Devlan Mud and Badaab Black stashed away to last me for a while :D

What's the main difference with the washes? I also liked Devlan Mud a lot :?

This thread (http://theminiaturespage.com/boards/msg.mv?id=281161) on tmp sums up most of what I've heard.
My first experience (and only, for reasons that will become clear) was washing some figures with Nuln Oil (new Badaab Black) to shade them. When it dried, it left white residue (and quite chalky residue at that) in a lot of the creases, which I had to go over with black paint to hide them. The chalkiness is still there, but not so noticeable :(
I suspect they need shaking a lot more than the old ones, but I haven't had the courage to try on another figure yet. I have some zombies to paint next, so I may experiment with them.
-
cote d'arms paints might be another good alternative it's basicly the old citadel paints range (when they were still in the old round fliptops) so there are a lot of alternatives to the (old)citadel range
-
For a Delvan mud replacement I've moved to army painters strong tone wash which is nearly identical. This is NOT the dip but a wash from their paint range
Dark tone is a good badab black replacement too.
Cheers,
Chris

This might be due to the matte medium (I assume it dries up matt?).

Yup, I have quite a few of the paints from Black Hat - but some of the classic colours are missing, such as Woodlan Green, and some others have been added.

Army Painters, good call... I'll see if I can procure some to try out :)
