Title: Rules for Japanese battle ?
Post by: sf2605 on September 09, 2013, 10:57:09 PM
Hi,

I wondering if you can help with 28mm wargaming samurai rule ?

I'm currently looking for something that can recreate small battles, I will say, max 100 miniatures by side ?

I tried WAB system but to be honest, not a big fan.

Any recommendation are more than welcome :)

I'm going to be using a modified version of Sharp Practise. Still needs a few tweaks and for us to actually play a game first  :)

I'll have a chat with Rich about what to do with mods.

cheers

There is this for T&T already:

Don't know how many figures are needed but T&T is fairly small scale stuff.

In saying that I have no doubt that Sharp Practice could be used successfully as well.  ;)

Hi sf

I think that 100 figures a side may be on the small side for Hail Caesar but I believe there's a Samurai variant on the Yahoo Group?

I suppose that, if you base in an 'Impetus' style, 100 figures could easily be 10 or more units for HC?

Might be worth a look!

I played in a Black Powder game put on by Steve Jones, in which he'd scaled things down so that each stand represented a unit - it worked very well, and was great fun. I'm sure you could do the same with Hail Caesar.

There are the old Taiko! rules:
Purchase: http://www.scalecreep.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=2950_2967
Info : http://www.flagshipgames.com/html/taiko_.html

I bought a copy several years back, but must admit I never actually painted enough figures to play it.  The production wasn't fancy, but it seemed like the rules would give you a good game.
