Muahaha! Mason started this!
First up is Crassus himself Equitumus Insanit Magnificus

Not too shabby, eh? I really tried to make the armour shine (several very thin layers of guld - the OLD one from games workshop in the 90'es. That stuff probably had chromium in it or something... never seen anything like it since).
But the shiny armour is almost impossible to photograph. The miniature looks a lot better IRL me thinks. lol

Shiny helmet!! ;)
-
Must be a crappy ludus if the lanista himself has to fight... ;)
Just kidding! The gold helmet in itself is certainly representative of the glorious splendour of the house of Vikingus! Now to add some well-oiled, well-fed and well-muscled bloodsportsmen plus some lustful Roman housewives, subito! ;)

I think he's been polishing it ;)

Ah shite! Shows my ignorance dunnit?
Quite a dilemma there. I guess I'd better rename the champione!

I shall look forward to spilling his blood on the sands of the arena in Woking in November. He had better get some training in. ;)
Lovely paint job. ;D
A shiny helmet indeed lol

Ahhh, don't sweat it. I'm just a cranky spiteful German who never managed to live his dream of being an ancient historian after all, so what do you expect? ;)
Seriously, I quite like it. I've got some Museum Miniatures Gladiators which have sat 1/10th-painted for 2 years now. Makes me want to dig them out. Who makes that figure, by the way? Looks a bit fantasy-ish to me, but not outrageously so.

Trident Designs/Battle Honours 40mm now available from OG15s in the States.

I've seen the same figure in the other 40mm threads - what class do you use him as? Shield of a Hoplomachus, chest guard of a Provocator, Helmet of a...well..nothing...and an axe? lol I like the figure, I just have no idea what the hell he is. :D

Happy with that :D
I'm sure we can squeeze the odd game into between the crusader action that will follow the release of Kingdom of Heaven in a month or so :D

Great stuff Mr Viking!

You have done a cracking job with the brush.
Whilst his 'shiny bits' are very nice, it is the fesh tones that most impress me.
:-* :-* :-*
It looks like you now have the bug, so I guess you will be wanting in on the next order.
;)
Many humble apologies, O Crazy One, for not noticing the thread without assistance.
I am pretty inconvinienced in the optical department, though.... ::)
(Thats my excuse and I am sticking to it!).
