Here's a few bits and pieces I've done for North Star and private commish. I am really impressed with Otherworld Miniatures and they seem to have perfectly captured the spirit of the old Dungeons and Dragons mins, with modern sculpting and casting quality.
A couple of Forest Trolls. I wanted them to look muddy and mossy, with pale leathery skin and nearly albino colouring.

A Lich - I wanted to do the eyes glowing out of the head and I didn't quite do them right - I should have reversed the highlighting so the eye socket crevices were brighter. Live and learn boyos! I was happy with the mummified flesh, though, which I wanted to be grey and dull instead of the usual bone colour.

Dungeon adventurers - a half-orc fighter/cleric, a wood elf ranger, a dwarf fighter/cleric.
I wanted him to look filthy dirty, seriously grimy, battered and tattered. I also love the old leather colour for orcs, as seen in the 1980's, as opposed to the green skin we mostly see nowadays.

This one's a really elegant sculpt full of movement. I just wanted to keep the palette fairly pale, plain and with natural hues.

I always like my dwarfs to look elderly and tough as old boots. I wanted him to look like a veteran, but one who looks after his weapons and armour.

wonderful work

Very nice.

Marvellous. I always considered the Otherworld stuff to be pretty much the "embodyment" of "sword-and-sorcery"-style figures, and your painting only serves to reinforce that; I wonder if the style could ever be done better. Sure, it is cliché, but a well-done cliché can be so much fun.

Who makes those forest trolls? They're not OW, are they?
-
Otherworld makes some excellent miniatures, and as you say they capture the flavor of classic D&D nicely. You have done a brilliant job with these figures!

Fantastic work on them all. Having recently converted to Otherworld figures I whole heartedly agree with how great they are!
The Trolls are from Northstar in there Gods and mortals range.

Very nice. I really like the lich. I'm going to steal that skin colour.

Ok, now the OP makes more sense! :D

Some sweet brushwork there.
Oh, yes!

Thanks guys, all very kind.
Sorry boys and girls, I thought the trolls were Otherworld! I don't even know what I'm painting these days.
Something I love about Otherworld is the fact that their imagery and 'rules' seem to stem from the early days of D&D and such. Thus the dwarf is stocky without being a comically obese ball. His legs look oddly short (even for a dwarf) from the photo angle, but it's just his long hauberk obscuring the hips and thighs.

Those made my jaw drop, fantastic sculpts and amazing paintjob. I will have to get a few of those minis myself - bookmarked for future reference!

Ye Olde Schoole Goodeness.

The Other World Minis are LOVELY, but a bit out of my price bracket when not on sale. Seeing your FINELY DONE creations makes resistance very difficult. They all fit SO WONDERFULLY with the Old D&D/AD&D look. GREAT WORK!

Excellent painting! I have the Otherworld adventurers lying about here but haven't had a go at these two yet. I'm very much impressed with your painting - all of it for that matter.
-
amazing work, love the trolls!
-
Lovely work! Do look forward to the updates! :)

Whoa there, updates?
-
Great brushwork on lovely minis!

Whoa there, updates?
Once you start showing off a great collection, the people will expect updates. It's either that, or an angry mob in Cardiff ;)

These are really great! Can you ID those trolls please? Haven't seen those and wouldn't mind picking up that first one. A good match in style to the Red Box goblins.
-
They're North Star, from their very nice 'Of Gods and Mortals' range -

Sometimes you get a figure that just begs to be painted and these babies were a real treat.
EDIT: Apparently the Troll Shaman isn't currently available, but may be included in a fantasy range in the future.

I just buy their vouchers and then use them straightaway. I'm a bulk buyer though as I try to save on postage whenever possible.

More wonderful paint jobs!

Love your paintwork.
I like the slightly gangly and awkward look of many of the Otherworld PC figures, it reminds me of the original Grenadier AD&D figures that were all slightly "wrong" and some of the Asgard figures. I'd love to put a collection of these (Otherworld) together.
The trolls remind me of something from Jim Henson. How big are they compared to 28mm character types?

They're noticeably larger without being huge, so your standard GW Ogre or Troll stature; so kind of 9ft or 10ft tall stood up. I forget exactly how big the bases were, but I think they were 40mm round.

I absolutely love those trolls and that orc. Nice sculpts but made to look fantastic with your excellent brushwork.
