Title: Antenociti's upcoming(?) 28mm civvy vehicles
Post by: tnjrp on October 02, 2013, 08:13:13 AM
Looks like A-citi are planning "an internal Kickstarter" for some (rather big) sets of civilian vehicles in 28mm. No idea yet when and what it'll be like, and what the exact sets will be. One "prototype" is pictured on their Fecesbook:
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=574077255963253

Presumably these are going to be (at least ostensibly) for Governance of Technology. In addition or even instead of the very smallest vehicles pictured, it might make sense to do something like a tube train thingy or whathavewe in some other games (like Infinity or Battle for Alabaster).

It's goodto see more civilian stuff turning up. I'd certainly be all over this if it was 15mm, so i guess I'll have to wait and see.

I picked up a few of the Tron Legacy vehicles (http://collider.com/tron-legacy-concept-art-images-posters/) last year in PoundStretcher.

They should fit in nicely with the Antenociti's stuff :)

"an internal Kickstarter"?

Is that like Northstar's Nickstarter, run without the help of Kickstarter or Indiegogo?

These do look promising. I'm always looking for near future vehicles for both my Blade Runner and Colonial Marines projects. These would be the bee's knees.

They look great.  Whether I pick them up or not will be heavily dependent on cost though, and AW doesnt tend to be cheap.  Good quality in my experience, but not inexpensive.

Haven't seen any details yet beyond what's in the Facebook comments, including the fact that there will be "heavy" discounts -- presumably moreso for the larger sets of 30+ vehicles they hint at. The IKS details will be announced "well in advance on twitter, facebook and on the blog".

Their latest on Facebook says Antenociti will have a scifi KS in early 2014 "that will cover resin scenery (lots of it), MDF structures, Vehicles and figures" in 28mm scale. One assumes that some of these civvy vehicles might be involved. This is a real bona fide KS apparently, not an internal thing.

tiny addendum - yup all of the already shown civvy vehicles will be in the kickstarter, plus some you havent seen... indeed by the time the KS starts you will have seen either renders, prints, casts or finished painted models of pretty much everything that will be in the KS.

The vehicles remind of the civilian vehicles seen around in halo 2 and halo 3 odst
Halo 3 odst.

Its a nice design and the models are really nice with a similar design. With the designs of cars always changing i wouldn't be surprised if cars looked like this in the future.

Not sure if Antenociti are still looking for suggestions, but if they are, I'd like to see the helicopter thing (http://www.imdb.com/media/rm1515233536/tt1483013?ref_=ttmi_mi_all_sf_1) from Oblivion included. Movie wasn't anything special, but I did like the helicopter ;D

Well, reading this didn't make my day to be sure :(
http://www.antenocitisworkshop.com/news/g-o-t-scenic-items-g-o-t-figures-cease-production/

Does it also mean that the planned KickStarters have been scrapped or will they just be done in 15mm instead (making some people happy, I'm sure -- but as it happens I'm not one them)?

Just saw this reply on FB

Quote
Mark, no, not yet: military vehicles are continuing as-is and under the GOT title. At the moment this notice only affects 28mm GOT scenery and 28mm GOT figures.

So it confirms what's on the initial announcement:

Quote
http://We will  make a further announcements regarding 28mm G.O.T. vehicles at a later date, however, major changes within that range are not anticipated.

Well I can understand the not selling the GOT 28mm stuff to another producer if they intend to continue the 15mm line. You wouldn't wan't someone competing with your range with an old range of yours in another scale. It could take sales away from them.

Sad to see the line is being ceased although it sounds like some stuff will survive and interestingly doesn't appear to effect their 'generic' sci fi stuff.

It's sad news. Doesn't the release say something about producing stuff for specific games?

Personally, I have always found their website to be a problem. There is something wrong with the way the images display - I don't know what browser it was tested on but - IIRC - the last time I tried to look at the product line I had a lot of trouble displaying the images. It always was off-screen and there didn't appear to be any scrolling capability. It seemed to me it was either intended for a much larger screen than I had or a specific browser that I didn't use. As a result I have never ordered direct.

A shame, especially about the scenery. Doubly so because a lot of their formerly generic Sci-fic scenery had been rolled into the G.O.T. range in the past.
I hope those will revert back to the generic sci fi range now and avoid oblivion in that way?

Dumbfounded by this news.

No "Harrier" Dropship, no "Krokodil" Attack Craft, no "Grendel" Dropship, no articulated battle tanks (as in "Ghost In the Shell").....  Just a short list of some of the outstanding vehicles they were planning.

Wish I had picked up the "Merekat" in my order a couple of weeks ago when I could have bundled it for the free shipping (decided to wait at the last minute).

Antenociti, at least to me, was at the forefront of producing futuristic terrain and vehicles - generic or game system specific.  Really thought they were the best.

The vehicles are supposed to be staying, it's been stated a couple of times already.

After having them on my 'to buy' list for probably three years, I put in an order for some figs and scenery that I 'need' to add to the hoard just in case they do disappear forever. Not the best timing cash wise but so be it.

Shame about the dropships etc, but seems like a change in direction to doing more stuff for other companies.
Whatever the full story is, if you're after any bits from the fig or scenery lines, well nows the time.

"No "Harrier" Dropship, no "Krokodil" Attack Craft, no "Grendel" Dropship, no articulated battle tanks..."
I don't think plans for these items have changed.
here's what the statement frmo AW actually says
...includes all 28mm figures (TPEA, NRF, TPF and civilians) and all 28mm scenery elements within the current G.O.T. catalogue, as well as our 28mm “Generic Sci-fi” scenery elements. It also includes all robots and walkers such as the WAW Sentry drone and the Komodo...We will  make a further announcements regarding 28mm G.O.T. vehicles at a later date, however, major changes within that range are not anticipated.

Dwartist and Hubbabubba - thanks for that clarification.  Guess I did not read it closely enough.

I am a huge fan of Antenociti.  I really don't think anyone quite hits my sweet spot like they do as regards futuristic terrain and vehicles...and civilian figs.

They contrariwise specifically said on their Facebook that the work on the dropship/future helicopters is proggressing. You can find the comment here (and see that 3 people actually like the fact that G.O.T. "infantry" minis are going out of production  :?):

No comments on the aforementioned civilian vehicles tho but since their plans for vehicles aren't affected I suppose they might still make an appearance at some point.

Only there was supposed to be 2 KS projects, not 1 ("the") project so... o_o

Ah well, one may assume for now that the civilian vehicles are covered by the blanket "vehicles will not be affected" clause. Tho they might just as well quietly vanish 'cuz everybody keeps asking about the military stuff... Will just have to see.

ETA - Civilian vehicles were confirmed to be still in the plans on Facebook about half an hour ago (after I asked about them specifically).

Rave from the grave update!

Quote from: Antenociti
To clarify some news from Ficzone: We are now an official partner for Corvus Belli’s “Infinity the Game”, our remit to produce scenery and vehicles (as scenic pieces) for the game; land, sea or air and we will be adjusting our website and some ranges to tie-in with this change over the next few weeks.

Scenery, vehicles and buildings will be available retail and wholesale (through Corvus Bellis existing distribution chain) as well as directly from us here at Antenocitis Workshop.

“Land, sea or air” means that we have no restrictions about the types of vehicles we can produce, we’re currently concentrating on civilian vehicles with over 22 designs now in development, however we are not precluded from developing military vehicles on the basis that these are scenic pieces and nothing more.

This does not mean that vehicles will not play a part in the game though; as with all partners CB work to include scenery from partners into scenarios and the back-story…but CB are not moving the game away from skirmish level, so any military vehicles that we did produce would be cosmetic / scenery, not active gaming pieces.

What it does do though is give us a fantastic opportunity to produce products for all the varied factions and environments within the Infinity Universe and, for example we are currently working on the “Azure Dragon” which is a type of YuJing drop-ship.

Our scenery and vehicles are being tailored to work with the new silhouette system recently announced at Ficzone, ensuring that the work we do now is “future proofed” and we are, on that subject, in the process of manufacturing new base ranges to fit the three base sizes that will now be standard for the game (25mm, 40mm and 55mm).

In addition to this we are busy re-working swathes of the items that were in our “old” Kickstarter plans, which are now being adjusted to fulfil roles in what will be, to all intents and purposes, our Infinity Kickstarter.

To give an idea of the level of detail we are intending: where we once had a single set of weapons lockers, we will now have weapons lockers by factional weaponry. Gun-crates will be factionalised, containing different weapons from different factions and our buildings will also have faction orientated elements for those buildings.

Our new buildings will be released in a format that allows you to assemble them and play with them right away – fully pre-painted MDF and pre-coloured resin that matches the painted MDF meaning that you don’t need to paint anything on them at all. They will also come with external resin by default, so the doors, windows, vents and other details will come as part of the package, right down to light-gathering rod in their external lights… and all this work being done by our in-game company avatar ‘Phoenix Industries’.

Fans of detailing will no doubt also be pleased to know that every building has its own complimentary set of resin for detailing the interiors, covering more than 120 pieces of scenery “Designed for Infinity”. On top of that we are working on three different formats of gaming mat, tailored to match our buildings (and those of other partners), in various materials, modular and single-piece for multiple terrain environments.

So, it’s going to be a busy year!

We will provide more detail on individual projects as we can, particularly here and via the official Infinity forums once we are set up there.

In the meantime we would like to point out that, over the last few months, we’ve been constantly putting off giving detail about our kickstarter asking many of you to “be patient and wait”.

We hope that the reasons behind that are now clear; we’ve been working with CB since the end of 2013, so this is not a spontaneous spur-of-the-moment change, however working with a partner like Corvus Belli, who have such a rich and detailed Universe has meant that we have had to revisit certain aspect of our work, drop some, adjust others, and the natural too-and-fro when working with a partner also extends development times.

On top of that we now have to potentially cope with a bigger audience than we would otherwise have done, so there has been, and still is, a lot more work to do to ensure that our products, kickstarter and everything else is kept to the high standards that Corvus Belli themselves attain.

We’re very confident we can do that and we really hope that you enjoy the products that we will be producing “designed for Infinity”.

Jed, Nadine, Roy & Katherine

Good news 8)
