Having been given the Colonial Supplement I bought the main rules as well.
Has anyone gamed the NWF in the late 1890s with these rules?
If so any hints or tips gratefully accepted
-
I had the honour to play with björn himself, it really works. Nice game.
-
You played NWF Nurgle?
Be interested in any details you could supply

Here's Björn's board from GLAM. Didn't get a chance to play on it unfortunately.

Great stuff
many thanks matakishi

At the GLAM I tested the colonial-Rules with Björn. It was fun. Matakishi postet the pics, I played the same table. Hard to find the right description, I can only say read the rules and start playing. It is so simple, that you can start without problems.

Wonder how he made those rocky big hills....?
-
ASK Björn. His Name is Driscoles Here
-
Thank you Matakishi and thank you Dirk.
Havent been online for a couple of days.
I like playing NWF. It is possible with T+T.
The hills are made of Styrodur, plaster, little stones and some bark.
If you need any help just post here.
Best regards

I still curse the fact that I didn't get to play on that superb table of yours when I was there...
Please say you will bring it out again one day when the Englanders come to visit :)

Yes, we will do this Sir. And I have the Bengal Lancers in reserve now and some more Pathans as well. And a small mountain fortress is in the tube too. Tadaaaaaaa!

I think on the island in the northsea they call it polysteren? Styrodur is the german name of it. It is the stuff they use for surfing boards.Richard, is it right??? :?
-
Possibly Dirk. What we call polystyrene is the soft white stuff with big granules, used for packaging electrical and other goods, and for ceiling tiles.
Then there are much denser grades of pink, blue, and orange styrene foam used for insulation, building projects, and often for modelling.
-
It looks an attractive game,
What were the units? No. of figures?
-
Hi,
here is some information on the table and the game.
This game was presented at Tactica 4 years ago. The table size was
1,20 m x 1,80 m.
It could be played as a 2, 3 or 4 players game.
1 Force British ( Gurkhas, Sikhs, Highlander )
1 Force British Hunting for a legendary Bear ( Hunters, Charakters, Pack Train )
1 large Force of Pathans could be played by two or either one player. ( Swordmen, Riflemen )
ah yes....and the Bear !
All players had different mission objectives.
British Capture the Pathan Leader
Hunting Party - Shoot the Bear
Pathans - capture the outpost capture or kill the hunting party.
There were event cards for the game. You could play these cards on your own troops or against your opponent.
I placed objective markers with hidden encounters.
The rocky area was build with the material mentioned in the previous post.
Nowadays I would construct the mountain area a bit different. It is glued on the table but I think it is smarter to make a removable mountain area made of several pieces.
Hope that has helped a bit.
Cheers

Ok, now it is clear for me:
German English
Styropur Polystyrene
Styrodur styrene foam (in green, blue, pink, Orange never seen here)
Helps for understanding some instructions.

Thanks for the game info Driscoles
How many figures did you use in the various units?
-
Thats funny, I cant recall exactly. I used larger close combat units and smaller long ranged armed units for the Pathans
The British units were usually at full strength according to the rules of the Colonial supplement ( up to 12 ).
But I think today I would use more but smaller units it would make a more dynamic game for a convention.
Cheers
