Title: September 1939 - new ruleset and minis
Post by: Sarmor on 11 October 2013, 10:07:31 PM
A new upcoming release from Poland: a free ruleset called "Wrzesień 1939" (September 1939) accompanied by 20mm hard plastic vehicles and infantry, all scheduled for November 2013.

The rules are to be available as a free download (I don't know if there will be an English version - at first rather not), approximately company-scale, with platoons activated by cards. I've played an early version of these in June, it was quite easy and fun.

At first the minis will be available only with a magazine (with a new issue every 2 weeks), probably containing some painting & modeling tips and historical information - the whole project is very much aimed at beginners. Later, they might be sold separately.
The first issue will cost 10 PLN (about 3$) and will come with a model of the TKS tankette armed with a 20mm cannon.

The second and later issues will be twice that expensive - 20 PLN/6$. That'll probably be the cost of the boxed sets.

With the second issue will come a Panzer I Ausf. A:

The third and fourth models will be C2P artillery tractor and Panzerbefehlswagen I, respectively. Other planned releases are: Polish and German infantry (24 minis), Polish cavalry mounted and dismounted, TKS armed with an MG, 7TP light tank.

Even if it is not my scale I have to say it - we are in the golden age of miniatures...

Looking very nice.

The first model (TKS tankette) is set to be released on 15th November, but you can already read a review: http://miniwojna.blogspot.com/2013/11/prosto-z-pudeka-tankietka-tks-z.html

Agreed, those are truly beautiful miniatures.  :-*

While 20mm is not my scale, and English is my spoken language, I wish the venture great luck!

Hi there, my first post on the forum.....
Anyway... There was some additional information posted on FB today regarding future models in this series. PzKpfw I Ausf B, Kfz 13 Adler and TKS-3 were mentioned specifically as being close to the release.
If You have some other question - ask here please, I will try to answer them.

And for anyone interested in early war tanks in 1:72 scale - I will make another review of PzKpfw I Ausf. A in next few days. I already saw finished models and sprues and it looks really, really good I think.

Bought and built the TKS.

The casting is really nice, the details superb (much better than in Zvezda's fast build vehicles - although one has to remember they are 15mm, and the tankette is 20mm), though I'm worried that the rivets might disappear under the paint.

When it comes to building, some of the part are really flimsy and the way they're attached to the sprue is terrible. The barrel, shovel and the other tool (I've got no idea what that is) are attached in three places, so you've got to be especially careful when cleaning these parts - I broke the shovel twice! Gluing them onto the model also isn't easy... And one has to handle the finished tankette very delicately not to break the barrel.
Each track is attached to the sprue in 6 places and has further 4 plastic bits attached, and when you add the mold lines, that's a lot of cleaning! I understand all of this is done to avoid any damage to the parts, but I think it's unnecessary - parts from Zvezda's tanks are attached to the sprue in 1-3 places and I never got any of them damaged.

All in all, the model is really nice, but might be a bit too delicate for wargaming, especially if you're used to resin/metal models.

Really fine work on the rivets. They'll take a nice careful wash just fine.

I hope that PSC will help them make 15mm versions as well - would be fantastic to be able to buy Polish EW fighting vehicles in that scale for my own FoW collection.

While I'd love to see those minis in 15mm, I don't think it's likely to happen - the publisher seems to be very much influenced by two modelling/wargaming clubs in Warsaw, which are ancient (30-40 years old) and use 1/72 minis exclusively. Even showing them new rules (other than their own creations) is met with resistance.  :D

I hope we'll succeed in covering the whole range.

Quite a nice model, I must say, I'm almost sorry I didn't buy it, but I'm waiting for the Panzer I B.

I truly love...LOVE...early WW2.  In fact this is something that I did not really notice until I started thinking how I'd want to game WW2 and the earliest days are simply the most appealing to me.  Such unique situations, weird mis-matches, the brutal swan song of so many WW1 units/equipments/tactics etc.  I love tankettes and small Panzers, horse-drawn equipment etc.  Now...20mm or 28mm?

(unfortunately my newly minted Brother-in-Law is doing 28mm and I might adopt that scale as a ice-breaker...)  lol

I'll echo the previous sentiments here.  What damn good time to be a miniature gaming enthusiast!

Excellent to see the TK-3 as well, something I remarked upon in my own review of the TKS box (that it lacked the MG option, but perhaps it would be ammended with a TK-3 release  :D )

There will be an MG-armed TKS, only later in the series. So all in all, 3 Polish tankettes will be released: both versions of the TKS and a TK-3 (MG only).

Some people actually got their TKS with an additional sprue with the MG barrel and mantlet. I mentioned it in my review... :P

First to Fight, publisher of 1:72 scale fast assembly models of vehicles from Polish Defensive War of 1939, has orgnized another contest, with the main subject being Polish wz. 34 armoured car.
Here are two winning entries.

First one chosen by participants, model made by Dar Gol:

Hello,

this kits I like very much, thanks to make them. My favorite is the Fiat 621 truck, very usefull. What about some polish infantery and a 3,7 cm bofors anti-tank gun? They are the biggest gaps in 1/72 plastik kits.

 Yours Sebastian

Both infantry and the Bofors gun are planned. The basic infantry set was meant to be released some time ago, but they've postponed it (twice I think). Apart from the infantry squad, an HQ will be released, as well as cavalry.
The AT guns will probably be available in a box of 2, with crew for both.

Blogwise, it might be nice to get some infos about how popular games like Neuroshima or "good old" Warzone are in Poland.

Unfortunately, I don't have time to continue blogging, at least not in the nearest future.

As for the two topics you mentioned (pardon the digression): Warzone seems to be becoming more and more popular, though somewhat slowly, but to be honest I'm not interested in this game at all; and Neuroshima Tactics is by no means popular - the publisher stopped supporting it and I don't know if anyone's still playing it (boardgames and RPG are still ok though).

Sorry for the late reply, I was on vacation.
