I've been a die hard DH gamer for some time, but I just recently starting playing BA at a few of the conventions. As usual I had to buy the rules (I collect rules like some people change their socks) and I am curious at what the general feelings are about the two rule sets. I haven't tried the DH: Point Blank rules yet, but of course, I have those too......

DH was my first WWII ruleset that I played and loved, its been difficult for me to warrant changing to BA, couple that with constant warlord releases being utter tripe and it makes it allot harder, I'll probably get it at some point though, since its faster play style suits more people here.

I own both rule sets for DH and BA:
DH was my first rules set for WW2 gaming. It is clearly more historical and detailed in complex elements in many respects. It is a good system, by my experience also takes longer to play and can be a bit more confusing for a new player until you really learn the rules, but you do get more detail to the game if you are into that realistic ww2 feel.
BA is more simplified, perhaps to the experienced ww2 veteran gamer, a bit too much. The games to me play smoother, faster and yet covers enough of the rules to keep the game balanced and fair. The system is very unique in the blind draw of action dice of units that makes the game both unique and dynamic. The use of the pin rules also is another unique element I like, it reflects psychology of combat in a simple to understand way to again make it easy for newer players to catch on. BA is clearly more newbie friendly and is a bit more "all ages" compared to DH which does require a more mature and veteran wargamer that has more time on their hands to play a game and be willing to deal with more complex elements. The all ages aspect also means that younger players can be taught the finer elements of other historical games that are not pop culture like War Machine/Hordes or Warhammer that there are other game systems to explore and enjoy. Besides once all of us old fockers die off who is going to play these games? :D
BA has been well supported which is about the only complaint I would have about DH is lack of add on materials....

Thanks for the feedback. The nice thing about most sets of rules, is you can tweak them with a few "house rules". I didn't care much for the U-GO-I-GO turn process in DH. I added a card activation system for each unit, and it makes the game a little less rigid and predictable. I haven't dug too deep into BA, but I may look at tweaking the armor combat to make it less generic.

Really like the DH rulesets but have only used them for SCW. Some how they 'feel' right even if I would like some things a 'little' more simplified like target acquisition for example. Still very enjoyable games, all of them.
PLayed only a few BA games (WWII this time) but just couldn't get my head around the very abstract way of playing. It felt like chequers on a battlefield. I might give them a few more tries but don't think it will ever become my favourite ruleset.
Recently have been playing a lot of Chain Of Command and am already toying with the idea of using those for my SCW gaming.
