Title: SELWG -How was yours?
Post by: Shaun1969 on 13 October 2013, 10:34:14 PM
back from rain swept SELWG show in South London and just wondered how everyone else's day went :)

My day was Bring n Buy orientated, sold pretty much all my painted units and a boardgame... Not much left for Warfare next month.

bought -
Longstreet and Ronin rule sets
2 boxes Perry AWI to paint and sell
6mm dune buggies for off road formula D races
Spray Undercoat, paints and paint brushes
Chipped into PSC infantry for a little crossfire action

The games looked ok, 28mm Ancients from BIgRedBat and War & Conquest looked very nice, the rest were 'club' games.... traders seemed their usual selves and footfall looked low to me at times... Food not to expensive or terrible, didn't go swimming except in the carpark

Cheers Shaun

I thought it was quiet compared with a few years ago... But I was only there for the first couple of hours. Stocked up on Vallejo paints, tufts, a few figures from Empress and a plastic box or two...  ;)
Said hello to several friends from LAF, picked up a consignment from Jimbibbly, and bumped into a few other people I know there, so well worth the trip, especially as it's not too far for me.

I thought the attendance looked ok in the morning but by about 2ish it seemed to have become very quiet.  There were a few of the regular show traders missing too.

Good show though... some nice games going on and a good buzz about the place.  There are more thoughts and a few photos on my blog...

I enjoyed it, but it was rather broken up for me as I had to disappear halfwy through to meet someone at the train station.
There were a few stands noticeably missing, but overall it was still a good show.
Foundry being there was a bonus, as there were a couple of things on my list which they provided.

Catching up with some friends at the show and the pub afterwards is always good, shame that there were not more of the membership at the meet-up.... ::)
We did have a good laugh at the pub, the grub was good and there were far too many references to a particular person's 'Gloin'!

I didn't go swimming either but I still got soaking wet  lol

According to Bibbles the weather was only 'damp'!
(Which is usually followed by: You big southern softie!)
 ;)

More civilized than Salute13  :D. There were very nice tables and miniatures but I missed some. Thank God my bank account didn't allow too much buying otherwise I would have bought more stuff. Met very nice people and put a few faces to names. Also was invited to take part in the Warlords Salute14 game by one of my Carlist War group mates. It was a good day.

Mmm, thought it was quite quiet. I was fairly uninspired, while there were some lovely games none of them inspired me to spend.

I exercised a lot of restraint at the Perry stand, coming away with just two packs for the Sudan project, failed to get the paints I was after and only got a couple of oddments beyond that.

I had an absolutely cool time at SELWG.  Never having been to a show in the UK before, I was the guy with his eyes hanging out on stalks!

I really loved all the games, enjoyed looking at all the traders' stands (at last, being able to see so many miniatures in real life rather than on the web!), and I delighted in being to talk to so many people I had only ever seen online.

You guys in the UK and Europe are so lucky being able to attend such feasts of wargaming fun - don't ever take it for granted.

I'm still on holiday in the UK till after the weekend, then fly home to New Zealand.  After that I'll put a posting on my blog, giving my first impressions of a UK wargames show (and including a swag of photos).

Had a great time at the show and got to meet more LAF members too.Jimbibbly,Bugsda,Captain Blood,Ged and Mason again.

It has taken me awhile to catch up on my sleep. It was a very long day.

Many thanks to Jimbibbly for bringing me my first pieces from his range.

Got my name down for a table at the show next year already ;).

Good show as always. Met quite a few old friends which is always a good thing.
Loved that Steenkerk game on the balcony by the GLC Games club.
And played a really fun Picket's Charge game by the Staines Wargamers. Very inspiring and I wouldn't be surprised to see a WWI variant turn up next year at the clubhouse.
