Title: Pit traps
Post by: marianas_gamer on 14 October 2013, 08:15:55 AM
Here are some more fruits of the US federal worker furlough  ::)  I have meant to make some traps for my jungle pulp games for a while.  So, here are two traps with spikes and a tiger trap.

Here they are deployed in the jungle.

This is how I envision the spike traps use in Pulp Alley

The tiger trap I am going to use a pure trap in Pulp Alley.  It will not cause any damage but it will not allow any actions (except against a target on the lip of the trap) until the character can climb out (a finesse or might roll).  This could be a major problem in a 6 turn game, especially knowing how I can roll some times! Finally, here is a shot with some lurking Dayaks.

Don't lose your head!!  As always please excuse the quality of the photos the humidity in the steamy jungle always affects them.

Great stuff! I wouldn't mind seeing a bit more of the jungle set up, it looks rather good.

Agreed, good ideas.  Who makes the Dayaks?

They could be Eureka Miniatures who makes them.

Thanks fellows for the kind words.  The Dayaks are indeed from Eureka.  These particular Dayaks are my pride and joy and were painted for me by Orctrader.  You can see much better photographs here http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=44200.0  So now if he would only paint some more for me!  Another LAFer that has painted some really nice Dayaks is Major Weenie.  I think that they are in LAFer chicklewis's collection but then what isn't? lol lol

Joroas,
Here you go.  These are quite straight forward.  First of all here is the type of cork coaster that I use - a little cut up from earlier projects.
(http://i511.photobucket.com/albums/s360/marianas_gamer/DSC03055_zpscf51d13a.jpg) (http://s511.photobucket.com/user/marianas_gamer/media/DSC03055_zpscf51d13a.jpg.html)
You trim the coaster to the size you want.
(http://i511.photobucket.com/albums/s360/marianas_gamer/DSC03056_zps9be7d904.jpg) (http://s511.photobucket.com/user/marianas_gamer/media/DSC03056_zps9be7d904.jpg.html)
Than, using an exato blade, trim and bevel the edges.
(http://i511.photobucket.com/albums/s360/marianas_gamer/DSC03057_zps82cd21b0.jpg) (http://s511.photobucket.com/user/marianas_gamer/media/DSC03057_zps82cd21b0.jpg.html)
Cut a hole out to represent the pit.
(http://i511.photobucket.com/albums/s360/marianas_gamer/DSC03058_zps43a44338.jpg) (http://s511.photobucket.com/user/marianas_gamer/media/DSC03058_zps43a44338.jpg.html)
Now you need to cut the stakes for the interior.  I have a package of slim dowels that I use but toothpicks, skewers, or matchsticks would work just as well.  I carve them with an exacto and then cut them off and trim the bases.

Than you  put down glue in the interior hole and place the carved "stakes" in with tweezers.

Prime with black paint.

Paint and glue on static grass.

Simple and straight forward.
