Title: Confrontation by GS
Post by: **GS** on 16 October 2013, 07:35:22 PM
Hi there,
a friend of mine pressed me into posting some pictures of my seemingly countless Confrontation miniatures.

So here I start wirth a collection of my Mid-Nor dwarves. I have some 120 painted in total, as I tried to make them match the requirements for Rag'Narok, the mass battle system by Rackham.

Time told me a lesson, when Red R stopped to exist. I was forced to switch to another game when the other players left playing Co after no more new figures were being made.

It was a pity!

But see yourself:

Really nice painting scheme. I'm always impressed by people daring using this kind of colors. I'm not that courageous  :D I should try one day, because it works, seing your minis  :-*

I've recently developed a love for the old Confrontation miniatures. There has always been something about the style and sculpting (not to mention the stunningly beautiful paint jobs on the studio minis) that set them apart from other ranges.
The Confrontation/Cadwallon ranges really are something special.

A couple of weeks ago, I decided to put my copy of Hybrid to use after sitting untouched on the shelf for almost 10 years with its Nemisis expansion. The frickin'cards were still in their cellophane wraps! But the minis are just exquisite. The softest metal I've ever encountered though!

Great work on those evil dwarves; the iridiscent effect is very nice and fits the look of those weird stunties perfectly. I'd love to see more of your work on the Confrontation ranges...

very nice painting, chapeau!

it completely eludes me why some people confine some miniatures to specific game systems
like anyone would stop gaming WWII if Warlord would go bankrupt....

"oh, no! if Your orcs are painted green You can play only Warhammer with them"
Kindergarden.....

Wohoo! I want to see more :D
It's great to see some confrontation, especially painted to such a fine standard.

former user is right, you should explore the available options for using these guys in alternative systems. A Song of Blades and Heroes is a popular DIY fantasy skirmish game. I like the looks of Rack & Ruin and Skulldred as well.

Great painting GS.

If you're still interested in playing Confrontation tryheading over to http://www.conf-federation.org.uk/ (http://www.conf-federation.org.uk/)  .  This is the original UK Fed for Confrontation and there are still regular games going on and they even had a tournament recently.

Indeed there are a lot of figures still waiting to be taken a photo of. I will - in some non defined future - fill this thread with more snapshots.
Still to come: Wolfen, Devourers, Cynwäll, Drunes, Cadwallon (still to be painted), Goblins (still to be painted), Sessairs (still to be painted, Acheron (still to be painted), a Mix of Griffons, No-Dan-Kar, Lions (all still to be painted).

As you can see here: http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=49831.msg602519#msg602519 (http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=49831.msg602519#msg602519) I already have taken Andrea's side and present his games on different locations.

These are great! I'll have to show these to my buddy, Mid-Nor was always his favorite faction.

I feel your pain with not getting to play it, I can't get anyone local to play it either. I went back and finished my Lions and remade my old Wolfen warband with the plastics a few months back (the plastic wolfen are tragically underrated, they atually paint up very nicely), but couldn't convince anyone to pull out their old figs. I think you guys are missing the point, of course you can always use them for SoBH or Savage Worlds or something, but Con3 was a wonderful ruleset and (for myself at least) it had the perfect amount of complexity. The figures were amazing and still on par with some of the best stuff coming out now, and again the game itself was incredible. Had some REALLY great Dogs of War campaigns when that book came out. Really wish Rackham hadn't tried to go the plastic prepainted route and turned the game into a warhammer clone, really killed it.

I love your stuff. Sadly you don`t see Confro minis painted that often anymore (apart from that crazy stuff at CoolMiniorNot). Makes me smile.

Still punching myself for not buying additional Factions when they were cheap to get.

I am still a big Fan of confrontation 3rd and own pretty much the whole Wolfen Range...maybe I will manage to paint them in hext 50 Years. At least I still get to play it now and then which should motivate me. Sill hoping on a Phoenix edition.

Keep it up  :).

Thanks a lot for the kind words!

Still hoping on a Phoenix edition.

Have you seen the Legendarion Miniatures? A month ago, Elfenwahn and I purchased a couple of the resin miniatures and they are really good.

...it's amazing what FINE brushwork & color choices can produce. ...

Thanks! For mine it obviously was the color choices.

End of photo session.

These pictures are new ones made from minis painted way back in 2008. Shame to notice that's allready 5 years past.

Hope you like the minis. I made some conversions on these again, as with the Devies and Middies.

As others have noted, it's great to see Conf minis painted up. Some very interesting parts swaps/conversions there, the asadar with slasher blades and the one with the selsym spear look very good.
We quite often get games in at the North West Gaming Centre in Stockport (UK ) on Fridays if you are ever near.

Hi!
A very nice idea indeed! But I'm afraid hat I will almost never be able to attend your meetings as I come from Bremen Germany.
I really like the game a lot and try to maintain a group in my hometown as well.

keep harassing

I will. I promise.

It's because I'm coming back every time...

Look for the dreaded Wolfen. They were nice to assemble, to paint and look at. But they were exceedingly difficult to play.
