Title: Paraguyan female troop under El Supremo?
Post by: abdul666lw on October 26, 2013, 02:08:16 PM
Intrigued by the idea of imaginary female troops in the horse & musket period (http://www.alternatehistory.com/discussion/showpost.php?p=8266966) I'm searching for *historical* ones (in addition to  Catherine II's short lived Greek Amazon Guard (http://theminiaturespage.com/boards/msg.mv?id=323073)). I read that José Gaspar Rodríguez de Francia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jos%C3%A9_Gaspar_Rodr%C3%ADguez_de_Francia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jos%C3%A9_Gaspar_Rodr%C3%ADguez_de_Francia)  'El Supremo'  of Paraguay from 1813 to 1840, once raised a troop of 'Amazons'. But the mention provided to link or reference and an internet search was fruitless. Is somebody on this forum knowledgeable?
