I recently picked up a dozen steam powered wing sets to make a group of miniatures into flying men. The problem is that for the flying version I need a rather specific miniature.
The figure needs to be 25/28mm. Legs together, like they are at attention. Sword and\or pistol only. And with a matching one for ground use. I plan on removing the base so plastic would be nice but not necessary.

Can't help with your figure search, sorry, but would you care to tell us where you got your steam wings from? They sound interesting...

Try the Perry plastic ACW soldiers box. That's what I used for my Captain Jonathan High and his Rocketeers.
-
Bought them second hand from someone on this site. Don't know who makes them.

Froggy how about some pictures so I can see how yours turned out?

Sorry to pipe in, but consider getting them 'running' instead.
Flyer might have one knee pulled up with one straight; think Superman. ;)
I have some Bird Men of Catrazza waiting me talking someone into painting them up. I think the pose is supposed to indicate 'bicycling' the wings, but feels like he's leaping into the air, and, on the ground, I think he'll be fine as running.
Leaning forward, head swiveled back, works for either flying or running, no?

Interesting. But the head looking up will take a bit of modeling.
Anybody just sell plastic officers?

The wings were made by Last Stand convertibles

Perry Bros sell just the officer sprues from their plastic box sets, you get the officer and drummer/flag bearer (confederate and zouave for sure) on the website, 1 pound each

You don't really need ones standing straight
I built these

Nice, but I plan to us them, plus some ex-Dwarf now CSA and USN gyrocopters and ornithopters, a ships and a catamaran zeppelin to fight an air/sea battle with different altitudes. I've got 12 sets of wings, one set of wings of another kind, four ornithopters, a gyrocopter, the ships, and the parts for the zeppelin. Only one ornithopter is ready to go, the rest all need work, but before I start I want to be sure I have everything I need.
Yes I know, that's a lot of work and I'll probably never get it done. But still it is a neat idea.

Sounds a very interesting project - pictures of progress please :P

Don't hold your breath, I'm still gathering parts. I guess I can show you the parts.
-
Show us the parts! :D
-
Please dear sir...the parts???
:'(
-
OK, here are the parts for the Confederate forces. I do need to find one more unit or vehicle to have enough for my planned battle.

Hit a snag, I need some ACW sailors in 25/28mm.
