This is my first posting in the AOTBB section, as I usually frequent the Medieval boards. However, having a quick break last month from the fifteenth century to top-up my AWI southern theatre units - I needed a change on the painting table from plate armour and heraldry, plus I'd forgotten how many castings I'd collected.
So these are all Perry AWI militia.
The marching figures were done for me a couple of years ago by Jim Bowen - sadly the last of his paintwork that I have - to which I tried to match in another four figures to complete the unit.
The firing lines have been done with a slightly quicker method than normal for me, as I have some more to do too, with more washes and just a single highlight on the main clothing areas and face & hands.
Flags are the excellent GMB Designs.

Those are really rather good, a nice simple palette and really effective, love the muted colours.
Could this open the way to a third blog ?!!!

Very nice. Like your choice of colours. I'm just in the process of painting up a unit of shirt sleeved loyalists using the same figures. At least one of the remaining figures will now be wearing a dull crimson waistcoat, which hopefully will be indistinguishable from yours.
Quite a few of your troops are wearing white cockades, is that based on fact? The only mention I've seen is of the Americans adopting a double cockade of black with an inner white cockade to honour their French allies.

Superb work

Many thanks for the comments.
Stuart - no I cant support another blog! I do have a fair amount of AWI stuff done, so maybe will post future progress and a mini back-catalogue on here?
Moonshado - I didn't know about the cockades and just did a contrasting colour.
Halfway thru another militia unit - coming soon!
Simon.

Another militia unit added, which pretty much completes those that I needed to add to have enough for rebel forces in the southern states.

all figures are Perrys again.
I've also done a separate command base, which will be used as Loyalist one, so that the unit has dual function. I assume that a Union flag would be good to denote loyalists?
Cheers, Simon.

Very nice as always Simon :-*

Simon, your comment about the Loyalist command stand gives me an idea on how to do my own Tory militia units - maybe make them all, or most, command stands and thus give double duty to my many militia units (for Lexington and Concord, of course, but much more). I'm doing the militia as one third norther, one third central, and one third southern theater. So, again, some nice idea for me here when those make into the painting line.

That is another nice unit, again some interesting colours I'll be borrowing-the drummers blue grey breeches and waistcoat for one. That is a very nice flag as well.

Top job as usual Simon :)

Beautiful figures.

Wonderful Simon, well done. Love the splashes of colour, like the blue of the standard bearer. Very smart paintwork :)
