Title: First Pirate Tile
Post by: Crossman on 27 May 2008, 11:43:18 AM
Just finished my first pirate tile this weekend, almost finished anyway still needs some details.  The tile is 2x2' and is the first of eight that I'm planing on making.  I'm trying to keep them fairly generic, the island with the tower is separate, as is the small hill in the corner.  For the game it is being built for it will have a dock with crane and roads leading to the town area on the next tiles which will also be removable.

Any suggestions on improvements are welcome.
Thanks,

very very nice.
1 compliment. i like the tower very much . how did you make it?
and 1 question. are you going to flock or static grass the grassy patches because atm it looks a tad plain. but overall great work.

Looking good. :)
Its hard to tell from the photo if you have gloss varnished the sea. It looks a bit flat, which could be the photo?

Thanks, the tower is made from Hirst molds.  And yes the grass areas are going to have areas of sand, static grass and the occasional boulder.

The sea is varnished with future, but shortly after the first coat I put a wash of blue green too soon and it dulled the acrylic.  I need to give it another coat or two.
